Have you been asked to remove acrylic nails? Empty Have you been asked to remove acrylic nails?

I have been told that prior to my op, I will need to have at least 1 fingernail exposed for the anaesthetist to monitor blood flow during my op. Bit of a pain as will either have to remove all my acrylic nails or have 1 taken off!
Has anyone else heard of this request?

Yes I think they need to be able to see how quickly the blood goes back into the capliieries, so they press on the nail, although my nurse said it will be ok as long as I had no nail varnish on my toes, but I suppose it depends on your surgeon, mine was easy going on just about everything actually x

Yeah you do babe as throughout the op they will be monitoring your oxygen levels by a sensor placed on your finger. A pain I know but well worth it in the end xxx
