Hi girls

Just wondering how long you need to keep off the drink for after your ba? Is it the longer the better? I can imagine I won't feel like going out for at least a couple of months anyway, but was just wondering? I'm happy to stay sober for as long as it takes to give my new Screwy the best chance of looking fabulous!

Just wondering what you did and what your surgeon's said about it?

Definately not for 48 hrs before & like bettyboop said if your taking antibiotics & painkillers then not until a couple of days after youve finished them, just to make sure theyre out of your system & dont get a bad reaction.

Breast augmentation & alcohol Empty Re: Breast augmentation & alcohol

Post by BoobiePrize 3rd February 2009, 9:46 am

I remember checking this up but depending on how much you drink 1 unit of alcohol stays in your blood between 30mins and 1 hour. Alcohol like garlic thins your blood and makes it less likely for you to clot in surgery so thats why your advised to not drink any at least 48 hours before. The first surgeon I went to see said it wasn't necessary and as long as I didn't drink or eat on the day that'd be fine...some are more cautious though. I'm not a big drinker so doubt it'd be hard

You really don't need to be off it for that long but do check with your surgeon for his recommendation. Here's an excerpt from the NHS website

On average it takes about one hour for your body to process one unit of alcohol. This varies depending on your body size, sex and the amount of food in your digestive system. If your liver isn't functioning normally, the process takes longer. One unit of alcohol is roughly equivalent to half a pint of beer, a 25ml (pub) measure of spirit, or two-thirds of a small (125ml) glass of wine. This means that one pint takes your body about two hours to break down, and a large glass of wine (250ml) about three hours - longer if the ABV (alcohol by volume) content is higher than average. So if you have seven pints during a night out, it could take as long as 17 or 18 hours to leave your system.

I can't remember what I was told but I stayed off the booze for about two weeks before and two weeks after. I wasn't really up for drinking after anyway really.

Hiya, i was also told 2 days before, its because alcohol thins your blood. Also 2 days after but you will be on antibiotics anyway so its best not to drink whilst taking them.
