Having just been reading the thread about smoking it started me wondering about alcohol. What did you ladies do regards to drinking before your op. It seems to be one of those things where we all get told different information I was always under the impression that you shouldn't drink 48 hours before having an anaesthetic but my hospital have said not to drink alcohol in the 2 weeks before. I will stick to it as thats what they have said but wonder why it is this long as every NHS operation I have had it has been 48 hours. What have you been told or what did you do? x

i was told just to have a healthy lifestyle, not too much alcohol for the weeks leading up to it. i didn't drink for a week pre-op but had a housewarming the saturday before and drank rather a lot, which in hindsight wasn't the best planning lol. wasn't given a specific timeframe tho.

I was told 48 hours before, but just didn't bother for about a week pre op.
I finished my antibiotics yesterday and although they didn't say not to drink, I've waited til tonight to have a wee glass of wine... It's going down very well :)

Here's to big boobies! *cheers*

I would be the same if I had anything on but unfortunately I'm a bit of a saddo in the social life department this month hence the perfect time to have my BA. I can't believe we are coming up to the 2 week marker though. I wonder if you will still be there when I get there. I'm getting more and more excited and impatient as the days pass xx

I was told 2 weeks but I'm pretty sure I drank the night before - just a couple of wines. 2 weeks without a wine would have been waay to hard for me! lol!

I was told no alcohol for 2 weeks prior to op and 2 weeks after, I followed the instructions given by 'my' clinic (You should always follow the instuctions given by your own clinic). I figure I've waited so long for my beautiful boobs and payed so much money for them, I'm not risking anything for a bit of alcohol! It's just not worth it IMO. xx

I agree Cookie Alcohol pre op 184153 I was just wondering why each clinic tells you different things especially as 48 hours is standard for the NHS. For me my lovely new expensive boobies far outweigh having a drink lol. My cut off day is tomorrow I might just have a glass of wine tonight to toast getting my new boobies as it will be the last drink for 4 weeks but definately worth it x
