Do acrilic nails need to be taken off??
Was just wondering if anyone knows if you have to remove acrillic nails before surgery? I know they told me to remove all nail polish but they never mentioned anything about acrilics. Was just wondering as I will have to get them taken off if this is the case.

They do have to be removed, with any kind of surgey nails have to be removed, they will postpone surgery otherwise, i think its somthing to do with the thing they put on your finger to check your pulse

Hey! Yip you will have to get them removed, apparently they keep an eye on your nail beds to see if you are getting enough oxygen because if you arent your nail beds would turn blueish.

That's so strange, here we don't have to remove them (I had them on during my op).....
But it really does make more sense to have them removed, maybe I slipped through??

Re: Do acrilic nails need to be taken off??
Hey there, I was told by the nurse at my pre-op screening that I could just take off the 2 index finger nails... However I figured that's going to look way worse than just having them all off! I'm going to go next week to get them removed and just get them to manicure my own nails with no polish... It will be nice to go and get them re-done after the op! Hopefully I won't have to wait as long as 3 weeks, I love my acrylics!

Re: Do acrilic nails need to be taken off??
Oh Im glad this is on ... no-one has mentioned this to me in the assessments - asked about the obvious ones like false teeth etc but not this.
I have been pampering myself in the week lead up to 18th having my hair done, erm - going on sunbed (ok I know this is bad but it makes me feel so much better with a bit of colour) and my next on the list was to get my nails done - hoping to feel really great after my ba is done. I better wait until after now.
So wales82 Im really glad you asked - thanks x

Soooo excited! And a bit scared as well but it's all good... Still deciding on size but got my first post op sports bra in the post today so will be trying out some rice boobies properly tonight... I found some good shock absorber bras on ebay for £10.99 with free postage so was quite chuffed about that! How about you? Excited? xx

Yes excited, booked another conseltation for monday just to get it clear in my head, a little nervous as my bf can't come with me for this one as he is working; he has held my had throughout every one. Will just have to be brave and go it alone
