Pain starting a week post op? advice please
So Ive been feeling a bit down the last few days and thought thats why my pain is getting worse.... but I am definitely getting pain - like a pulled muscle pain in the upper part of my new breasts. They also feel slightly tender to touch. I havent been overdoing it and scars etc are fine, its just an achey pain. I am going back to see the nurse in the morning but just wondering if anyone else experienced this.
Ladies who have had unders - is this normal?
I might take a hot water bottle to bed and try and relax as back at work tomorrow :(

Hey loopy,
sorry you're in discomfort hun, I had unders as well and for the first 3 weeks I lived with my 2 bags of frozen peas, 20 mins on, 20 mins off. I truly believe this helped with my pain and swelling for the first 2 or 3 days, but it really helped with the discomfort! I definitely had muscle pain and it still feels sore and stretched and I'm at 4.5 weeks.
Best to check with the nurse but I honestly felt that Icepacks/peas helped the area on the tops of my boobies - the pecs.
Good luck hun!!

Hi Loopy,
Warm showers seem to help me...for some reason, they feel like they soften up the muscles for me so that my twins aren't so painful and tight feeling...if you have an infra-mammary incision, just try not to immerse them in water however.
I have unders and even to this day, I feel like I get vibrating sensations within my boobs. It's the weirdest thing and feeling.

Its like a constant achey pain, think it must be my pecs. Oh well, have taken some painkillers, put frozen veggies on and off to sleep.
Thanks girls xx

Don't want to sound like I am telling you what to do but you aren't thinking about the hot water bottle to sooth your boobs are you? It's just I was told strongly not to do that and I don't want you doing yourself any damage x

Thanks lladies - am currently propped up in bed with frozen peas and carrots on the girls - feels much better.
I was going to use a hot water bottle but then read alis post about ice packs.
Will try and get an early night, thanks for your concern and for taking the time to answer,

Had a pretty good night - the ice packs did the trick and I'll be getting them out this evening too - thanks ladies xx
Suzie - they give you paracetamol hon - not meaning to scare you but I didnt find it enough - push for some tramadol to take home, I already had some from a while back and they worked pretty well at times. I took one last night too and was good but think it was the ice packs that actually did the trick

They don't give you tramadol to take home?! I was given tramodol, another pill to take with it so it didn't make me feel nauseous, codeine, AND paracetamol to take home with me! Although I didn't end up taking the codeine....
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones :D

LoopyLou - I thought they would give us something stronger than Paracetamol; I will def push for the stronger stuff. Glad to hear the ice packs have worked. You noticed many changes in the last few days?

I given the choice of Diclofenac or co codamol. Excuse spellings. I took the co co as the other makes me sick. I needed them for the first couple of days then just took them for a couple more nights to help with sleeping.I think just giving paracetamol is ridiculous.... you just had surgery... not a mild headache!

Re: Pain starting a week post op? advice please
Nope... was given an anti inflamatory like diclofenac but not quite that - cant think of the name though! for 5 days bd and 1 box of paracetamol. I agree it wasnt right but I was made to feel a bit of a wimp.
Suziew - please dont worry hon, sure you will be fine, I wrote them a letter telling them that I do not consider paracetamol to be effective post op pain relief, but push for tramadol or codeine to take home - I did not push because as I said I had some at home which did work well when it got too much.

Re: Pain starting a week post op? advice please
It's my 2nd week tomorrow since I got my BA... I got under the muscle and I couldn't move my arms half way up... but in time, my muscles started to loosen up more.. i tried to do some exercises and light stretches along the way... ohh.. and massages too!!! It helps a lot.. just use heat pads as many times as you can!!
