Having to lose weight for BA. Empty Having to lose weight for BA.

Post by LAW13 13th September 2011, 8:26 pm

I had my second appointment at the hospital today to see the pyschologist. After a chat about my breasts and she read the report the nurse gave her (my physical exam), i met the requirements needed and will be able to see a surgeon (who could say no still).

BUT to be able to see a surgeon i need to lose a stone and a half. Mixed feelings about today and i'm just wondering if anyone else needed to lose weight to get a BA on the NHS? Im so glad that i meet the requirements and that i have got past this hurdle. And that professionals do see the problem my breasts cause me.

Any NHS ladies have any comments?

Thanks :)

If it's what they've said you need to do then you really only have two choices, do it and get the boobs you want or don't and live with your issues.

I know it's difficult even getting accepted n the NHS so use the dream of lovely boobs as your motivator and feel free to ask for advice, motivation and guidance on here if you need it!

Use your boobs as a motivator, i didnt go thru the NHS route but i lost 2 half stone in 5 months before my op, sure ive put half of it back on already. lol. But i used to sit on the treadmill and think boobies, yes im gona have boobies and id work harder. I use to enjoy watching a bit eye candy at the gym, so thats helps. sshhh dont tell the hubby. ha ha xxx

If you don't mind me asking, what weight did you have to get down to? Because am waiting to hear back from my doctor and i think my weight could be an issue! Have you have anymore progress with your BA? xx

Im 5,10 and I was 14 stone 10 pounds. I was to get down to 13 stone 6. I ended up getting an appointment with a consultant who looked at my breasts and asked me what i felt was wrong with them. He then told me that i would be put on his waiting list which could take up to a year and a half. He didn't mention anything about my weight, but i'm still trying to lose weight as i feel this is a motivator for me to do so anyway :)

Hope that helps. xx

Hi Law13 I see your also in Edinburgh so thought I'd shout up! Glad your motivated, I think most ladies on here want to lose a few pounds before their BA even if its just to make themselves feel better! Good luck with the weight loss there's some great tips and advise on this site too.

If you dont mind me asking what problems are your boobs causing?
Hope you get a op asap

Hi, Not been on here in aaaages, sorry for the late reply.

My breasts basically have no breast tissue underneath, when i lay down underneath my nipple its just skin and you can feel my ribs really easily.

Im quite curvy, so even at this weight i still have small boobs.

How are your boobs now? Im more worried about post op than the op itself! :D xx
