Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
I'm sorry you're going through a tough time babe
Healthy eating has to be a lifestyle plan. Its not worth battling to lose weit for your BA, you really need to be a maintain weight to get the best for your BA lovely and the only way I personally find I'm able to do that is to simply not buy any junk in the house.
I'm struggling right now with my own weight due to being on steroids and I'm starving all the bloody time! Its horrendous! Lol. But I buy those bags of chopped carrots and have a much on those , or those sugar free jelly pots - only 3 calories! They help me lots when I NEED something sweet... Quavers are another low cal snack at only 97 calories...
Its bloody hard work when you have to watch your weight and even harder to maintain it babe - I've currently got me fat pics on the fridge! so every time I plan a kitchen raid I look at those pics and get a guilt pang. I don't want to look like that and it makes me actually think about what I'm putting in my mouth.
Sugar free ice pops are good for a sweet pang too.. These are great for kids too so if you're sitting with the kids you won't feel like you're missing out if you're sitting watching a movie or something with them and having the machines.
Wishing you lots of luck hun. Xxx

Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
Thankyou there's some great tips in there
I have done the fat pic thing but not actually stuck them on the fridge, I did so well by keeping my weight so steady for just over a year, then told myself oh might be better to out on weight for the ba and tt but it's not, and I have been over indulging in the last couple
Mths or so and now I can't stop! I will try that I always do well then night time I fail badly!! But tomorrow
I will start again and hopefully succeed! When I'm on track I am so
Good bit when I lose it I am the greediest person and don't know when to
Stop chocolate is my weakness but Any food in general is bad lol
Thanks Cookie xxxx

Thanks for the fat free yoghurt tip. I definitely try that. I suppose that poured on fresh fruit would be nice and tasty too - so good tip!
Maybe you could add a weight ticker here too and as you watch the days get closer to your BA you can also watch your BA target weight get closer too. Xx
Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
Yes I tried to but failed With the weight ticker will try a different 1 tomorrow I think would help seeing it move (hopefully down) lol xxx

Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
Sorry to hear ur going through a bad patch hun. For me the best way to maintain my weight is to eat as much fruit as possible, the fruit basket is the closest thing so before I get into the kitchen I reach for an apple or a banana.
A good thing is also green tea, very good for weight loss, u need to get used to the taste though, try and drink it unsweetened :-)
I avoid buying food when out and don't eat in restaurants too often, once a week or fortnight.
A good trick when I'm out and hungry is to buy a skinny latte, I sudenly feel fuller, it must be the milk. Not buying unhealthy snacks with ur grocery is also a good one, if I know it's there I'm gonna want to eat it lol.
Also avoid eating anything other than fruit after 6 pm that's the main one xx

Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
Hey Hun, sorry to hear your going through a rubbish time.
I agree with cookie try to make healthy eating a lifestyle not just a short term solution, I live by 80/20 rule where if I'm eating good 80% of the time then 20% can be allowed for a little indulgence ;)
Try looking at what you are eating in your main meals, up your protein and cut down on carbohydrates such as pasta, bread and potatoes. Try having a good breakfast of oats and fruits. Drink plenty of water and as Lisa said green tea is fab at boosting the metabolism ( my fav is clippers green tea with peppermint) be careful with things such labeled with diet/low fat as they often have sweeteners that have been proven to increase your appetite and make you crave more surgery food.
Are you doing any exercise sweetie? I know it's tricky when you have little ones at home but if your not then get out and do some walking with baby in tow or check out your local community centres to see if they do any exercise classes where they also have a crèche. It will probably be good for you to have some 'you' time and exercise is a great way to get that.
Biggest thing of all is to not beat yourself up if you do have a little slip up. xx

Make sure your portion sizes aren't too big, cut them down as much as you can, and yeah, no white bread/potato/pasta. Drink lots of fuids to keep you full. xx

Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
Your most welcome
RIght I seen posts that a few ladies if not all are gaining a bit of weight after surgery something to do with all the drugs and lack I movement we can't do! So I am really struggling to lose weight in fact I prob put another 1lb on
So I am stuck
Between a rock and a hard place atm if i do lose weight now then that's prob better for my mini tt! But not better for my ba and nipple lift ?! So how much weight approx are You girls puttin on During the few weeks of limited activity after ba.....it might help me decide how much I need to lose, if I CAN lose it! I should try extra hard to lose some rather than the full stone , which now I may have to purely fast and or slim fast to get off anyway in 2weeks 5days as tomorrow! If people are only puttin on a couple pound then I'm best losing most of this weight, and if its a stone is there any point me losing any??
Hmmmmmf xxxxxxxx

Re: What can I do to help me lose weight before surger
The weight people put on in the couple of weeks after BA isn't fat, it's just bloating and water retention, and a bit of constipation, all caused by the general anaesthetic and painkillers after. It just drops away by itself in a few weeks.
If I was you I'd just try to eat a bit more healthily between now and the op date, there's no point fasting or anything drastic because you won't want to be fasting when you're healing, your body needs fuel to heal, so you'd need to stop any extreme diet at that point anyway so you'd probably put the weight back on anyway.
Just try not to put anymore weight on by panicking about diets, I always seem to break diets when the pressure is on and I try to deprive myself too much.
I'm trying to lose weight myself at the moment, and I've finally come to realise that slow and steady is the way to go, as frustrating as it is. x
