worst day ever! :'(
so ladies i am sitting here with tears running down my face..
My mum got a call today from the hospital (we were waiting for a call any day for my preop) turned out it WAS the hospital but with some news that i did NOT want to hear at all!!!
at the start of the year I was placed in 'CERTAINTY' to get my surgery end of this month / first week of sept!
seems like the hospital made a MISTAKE and have changed it to December! they cant even say thats certain!... I dont know how they can expect me to be ok with this!
I have organised soo many things around this to happen and now its just been taken away from me!
It was going to be the BEST summer ever this year, all healed up and in new bikini's - everything was gonna be fantastic - but now i cant even go out for my 18th! i cant go out for New Years! (i was gonna go to the biggest festival in New Zealand for that!) i cant join in with my families 'olympics' we do on boxing day.. I was even going to be moving out of home and starting a bachelor of nursing course, Well guess again... I CANT!!
i cannot believe they could get something like this soo wrong!
feels like a tonne of bricks have landed on me and i cant breathe.. anyone know the feeling?! im so disappointed.. i was soo looking forward to the next few weeks and its been taken away from me.

So sorry to hear this hun xx You must be gutted xx Sending you a hug xx
Sometimes though, life has a funny way of working itself out for a reason that is not always known to us at the time xx Probably not what you want to hear but might make you feel better in time xx

Did they say what the mistake was due to? Do you have it in writing your surgery was meant to be in summer? If so, then it's their fault not yours. Tell them you've made arrangements that cannot be changed and that as a gesture of goodwill they should fit you in as close to the original surgery date as possible.
Chin up lovely, it'll all get sorted! xx

Re: worst day ever! :'(
Thank you girls, its just going to take a while to sink in..
Kay: my dad said the exact same thing to me and i know im an emotional wreck at the moment but things do happen for a reason and i appreciate that. X
Roxy: My surgeon put me in the wrong catergory.. i wasnt a 'life/death' case but she still put me in the 6month certainty list. Our summer here starts in December. It was meant to be done NOW, which is getting into spring so i would be all healed for summer. I do have a letter somewhere saying i was placed in certainty - would this help with anything? X
Nikita: i know i will be getting them done but its just the waiting and knowing i was gonna get them done VERY SOON just being taken away. I have to live with horrible asymmtery breasts for even longer. Its horrible! i cant go ahead with my plans because i'll be healing and cant do anything. Even if my surgery doesnt happen in Dec, i cant even plan anything just incase i get a call from them. X

So sorry to hear that, if you have it in writing then its worth pushing them. They may have tried to shuffle more than one person around so if you make a big fuss to them you never know - they can only say no! I don't really know the system in Nz but I am assuming you can't go elsewhere? xx

Re: worst day ever! :'(
Oh right, just realised you're from NZ! Sorry lovely!
If you have a letter stating you're certain to have surgery that should be fine in guaranteeing a date, but I suppose if there's nothing stating a date or timescale it may be that you have to just accept their mistake.
I'm unsure how NZ works, so you'll just have to take what I say with a pinch of salt, but I figure it's worth seeing if there's anything that can be done. Doesn't need to be confrontational or all guns blazing, sometimes letting someone know how upset you are is enough to get them on your side to see if there's anything you can do xx

Re: worst day ever! :'(
hey sweetheart, so sorry to read this news :( I know how much your asymmatry has effected you over the years, and this is just another slap in the face, isn't it!?
I suppose the positive is that you WILL still get the operation eventually, but its very disheartening to have it postponed to december... I know we were both looking forward to being all healed up for summer...
Let me know how you get on, hopefully they will give you a few more answers soon. Big hugs hun xxx

Re: worst day ever! :'(
i cant do anything to change it and also i cant go anywhere else either because its just going to be the same system..
It sure is Kiwigirl! Atleast you'll be all done for then :) so thats good.
Barbiecon im from New Zealand and im just going through the hospital here where i live. My surgeon is very busy and performs surgery on cancer patients so thats most likely the main reason for this problem but understand that. Even though i have to wait longer, theres more people in need then me. Im just a little gutted thats all.
I know its going to happen! i just cannot wait!! ahhh Bring on December!
Thanks for all your support ladies, i really appreciate it. Xx

Re: worst day ever! :'(
Are you having an NHS style operation? Ie funded by the state? In that case it might be more difficult to get a new date, but like the others have said, December will come soon enough! Although in the UK it's not the best month because of the cold/snow/frost/ice/darkness etc etc!
Re: worst day ever! :'(
yes thats right RoxyChick
Oh i really hope so.!! I wanted it in winter though so i would be fully healed for summer, now im going to miss out on half of it without swimming :( Also im scared in summer that im more likely to get an infection due to the warm temperature. Would that be something to worry about?

Re: worst day ever! :'(
I guess you just have to make sure the wound is kept clean and dry, and you should be fine. I'm sure your surgeon will tell you all you need to do to look after it and make sure it doesn't get infected. Plus you know what december can be like here!! Will probably RAIN!!! You should be fine by January when it's actually hot! :) x
