my back is killing me !
Ladies, i am nearly 4 weeks post op and i am still sleeping on my back and for the last 2-3 night its been killing me, i keep waking up and having to get up coz cant lay any more, this morning i woke up in agony and actually had to roll over to the side which made it slightly better thank God, but i still couldnt sleep coz my boobies start hurting on hanging sideways (((
I have stopped sleeping elevated from day 10 and i have really comfy matress and pillows so unless its actually sleeping on my back thats wrecking my spine i dont know what else to think. I have always always been a tummy sleeper but thats out of questions for god knows how long.
Is it something i should worry about or is it defo sleeping on my back? i will try again sleeping on my side maybe i need to get used to this now?

I'm a tummy sleeper too hun, so I found sleeping on my back really hard. I managed to sleep on my side by using my pillows for support. You'll get there hun. xx

id try and sleep on your side again then, just make sure your boobs are well supported and it wont harm them at this stage.

I agree sleep on your side, and stick a pillow or 2 behind you to support your back, put one between your knees, and even hug one for comfort... that worked for me. With all the pillows there wasnt much room left for the OH

Lol Sarah :
thanks girls, i will try pillows tonight, OH can sleep on the floor, boobies are clearly more important :)
One more thing that bothers me - the pain my boobies give me varies in places in intensity so much i can never know what to expect tomorrow - when can i expect the pain to stop completely?

Re: my back is killing me !
The shooting pains will come and go as you are healing, they should get less and less as time goes on. As for sleeping, I slept on my side whilst hugging a pillow, which really helped.
Re: my back is killing me !
You're just fine now to change your sleeping position 'if you feel comfortable' There's never a rush just listen to your own body and ease into it.
Do you have a V-Pillow? This was my best friend! as I turned onto the side I cuddled the V-Pillow, so not only was I comfortable but there was no pressure on my boobs as there was space between pillow and bed for them to fall into. If you find the top breast as you're lying on your side uncomfortable, try using a small guest towel rolled up and place that between your breasts.
It all sounds like a lot of faffing around doesn't it just to get to sleep, but you don't need to do this for very long, your body soon gets used to laying that way and you'll slowly loose your towel as it gets better, then you can start again sleeping on your tummy, same kind of drill with the V-Pillow, cuddling it and allowing your boobs to drop into the hole created by the V-Pillow.
It's not so bad once you get started hun, you'll find your way and listen to your body, if you find you're in 'pain' not just aches, you have to take a step back and start over when again you feel ready.
The pains your feeling in your breasts right now are the nerves in the breasts healing, it's not pleasant at all I know but take it as a good sign, they getting better. xx
