Help!!!!!My back is killing me
I'm about 1 wk post op. I've had a BA and tummy tuck done at same time. Recovery going fine except my back is KILLING me. I'm in bed pretty much most the day, only time I get out of bed is to make myself something to eat. I can't stand up too long because my back will ache that much I have to sit down. Are my implants too heavy for me (470 over) or do I need to walk around more?

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
No hun, you will find that it's your posture that is making your back hurt as you will probably be walking hunched over. Also your implants really dont weigh very much, but swelling will be making them feel really heavy. A hot water bottle placed on your back where it hurts will help with the ache and also trying to stand up straight when you remember will add your back ache no end.
Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
I've not had a TT but would have thought that having it at the same time as yr BA means yr recovery is going to be longer. As misf1 said your implants weigh less than half a kilo each so certainly wouldn't be causing your back to hurt so much. Are you taking your meds regularly? Try and get up and move around just for short periods of time if u can. Hopefully in a few days you'll be feeling better xxx

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
It's prob ur posture and hunching which is diff when boobs are swollen as the mods have said. Try the hot water bottle like wat have been suggested also what has kinda helped my backache is keep reminding urself shoulders back and when u sit and lie down...use a lot of pillows try to bend ur knees if u can and push urself hard against the pillows. Kinda works for me. Prob v different as uv had abdo surgery tho.

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
Oh you poor thing, I couldn't possibly imagine going through a BA and TT together!
If you're sleeping in an upright position babe, this really isn't necessary, as long as your head and shoulders are raised this is all thats needed to help disperse the swelling.
I also would make myself a pillow fort, I'd have a pillow and my V pillow behind my head with the arms of the V pillow almost around me, I'd then have a pillow under each arm and another under my knes with my hot water bottle in the small of my back.
I'm unsure how mobile you should be after a TT or what you would be advised, but the sooner you're up and getting yourself mobile after a BA the better for yoursef sweetheart, laying in bed all day after a week post-op and only getting up for food really isn't good, the more mobile you get, I'm sure the easier your back will feel, paying special attention to your posture, encouraging your body to be upright.
Maybe try just going out for a short walk a day? Get yourself some good fresh air babe and start getting yourself up and back together. I know when you're sore that sounds a nightmare, but you've gotta start somewhere sweetie and you'll probably feel so much better for it. xx

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
get a tennis ball and lay on it slightly upright. you put it on a spot thats tender on your back, usually close to the spine, or under/around your shoulder blade. you put the ball on it, lay back and breath deep onto it. completely relax push the tension down towards your feet. you can lay on that (especially if it's on top of a pillow) for several hours.
this will release the fascia and force the muscle to relax. stay on it for at least 10-20 minutes, then you can move slightly up or down, or to the other side ad leave it there..then repeat, moving all over your back.
the trick is to relax on to it. i keep a ball under me at almost all times that i'm sitting or laying.

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
You poor thing! Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. And although it's for entirely different reasons I completely sympathise with the back pain. Try to alternate as much as you can between hot and cold though. Cold takes down any swelling/inflammation, and the heat helps to relax the muscles. I have a cherry stone filled cushion I keep in the freezer and alternate that with a hot water bottle. If you have a bag of peas in the freezer, us this as your cold treatment - just make sure you wrap them up in a tea towel before putting on your back. And leave on for 15-20 minutes. Really does help babe.
Hope you're feeling better soon xx

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
JUST TO UPDATE
Wow thank u, with the combination of all the advice I am now up and about as from 2 days ago. I am no longer tied to my bed or having to look for the nearest seat. I am still taking it easy, and still little hunched over, but I am definitely mobile again. And tonight I have had my kids back (11 & 3 Yr old), they have been staying at their dads.
The ball thing definitely worked and the hot and cold thing on the back. And just keeping yourself mobile.
Thank u all.
By way, booby birthday to me, booby birthday to meeee, booby birthday to me! That was on Friday. Just wanted to share my joy.
Had my tape off on Friday too and now wear a 34dd sports bra.

Re: Help!!!!!My back is killing me
I've had both done now and the tt is WAY harder to recover from. You do need to move around and force yourself to try to slowly stretch your abs back out... You'll look fabulous when your all healed up!! Congrats on a life changing decision!!!
