Chest band advice please
Hi ladies,
I am 16 days post op, and have been advised to wear a sports bra and chest band for 4-6 weeks to encourage the implants to 'drop'. However, both sides seem to have dropped already and i don't really want them to drop any more!!! Do you think its ok to take off the chest band??? Thanx. xx

To be honest, I would check with your PS, this is very early in your recovery process. The position and appearance of your implants will change considerably over the coming months, I certainly wouldn't recommend that you stop wearing the band without the say so of you PS.
It's good that you're healing well and you implants are settling - take care and good luck. XXX

Re: Chest band advice please
I was told after surgery by my PS that I had to wear my chest strap for 6 weeks and Bra for 8 weeks, but then when I had my week post op check up with the nurse she said that I only needed another week or so with the chest band and 6 weeks for the bra. So I have been going out without my band on which is so much better as its hard to hide it under clothes and at night I wear it still. xx

Re: Chest band advice please
I've been told I have to wear my chest band for 6 weeks too (same surgeon as Kirsty) but I have taken it off for a few hours when I've gone out for the evening and when it's drying after washing.
Mine still haven't dropped fully, they are still quite high so I imagine I will have to wear it for the full 6 weeks.
I'd follow to advice of your PS, it's tailored to you, and everyone is different.

Its really strange to see how different surgeons are. I am 4 weeks and 2 days post op and my surgeon only required that i wear my chest strap for 3 weeks and my sports bra for 4 weeks, and after 4 weeks to massage my boobs by just squeezing them together and holding for 20 seconds 5 times in the AM and 10 times PM. So they are different. I hav eto say its very nice not wearing a sports bra to bed although it feels a little strange and naked haha.
So hun like everyone says its best to follow your PS advice.

Re: Chest band advice please
Hi ladies,
Thanx very much for your advice. I did actually put the chest band back on, as my implants seemed higher again after not wearing it for a night. I may have imagined that, but they definately looked higher!!! I also started feeling squidgy bits round the sides of my boobies, so feel better with the band over them!! Its not so bad, and will be well worth it for good shape boobies. Sharon - yes, it is amazing how different surgeons give you different advice. I have to wear the band and sports bra for 4-6 weeks, although i have an appt next week, so they may review. Think i'll feel wierd in bed with no bra on now!! Mind you, it'll be heaven to wear a normal bra........can't wait! Flowergirl - youwent to THG, did they tell you anything different at your 4 week post op check??

Re: Chest band advice please
Hi,
I'm now one week post BA and my surgeon has not advised me to wear a band at all. Should i be worried? I've had 275cc overs.
Tried a sports bra but it felt very uncomfortable as it's was sitting on the incisions. I'm wearing a Macom now (24/7) but i can't wait to wear a normal bra again.

No hun, there is no need to worry, you must follow your surgeons advice to the letter as it is your surgeon that will know how to get the best results for you. There is standard advice as well and you will find quite often some people are told the same things ie 6 weeks wearing a sports bra. But if your surgeon tells you different then he/she only wants whats best for you. Dont worry hun, we are all different and sometimes get different advice.

...hmmm you are right... but i will still ask him about it next week when i have my first check up

All surgeon give different advice hun, he has advised you on what he thinks is right for you.
If you sports bra is rubbing on your incisions put 'old style' sanitry towels under ur band or nursing pads the help protect.
I wouldn't worry he is a professional at the end of the day and must feel you don't need it.
Good luck with your recovery and new boobies

Re: Chest band advice please
Not everyone is told to wear one, it all depends on the surgeon's preference and individual needs. I had unders and had to wear one an hate hate hated it!!
I put up with it though, i had both of my ops in the winter so i can imagne wearing one in the warm weather must be horrid, it's worth it though x
