Hi all I'm nearly 6 wks po now & my left breast is still swollen although it has gone down a bit not completely is this normal ? Also I had unders & my surgeon said he had trouble getting the implant in as my muscles were so tight & that my boobs will get bigger @prox 5 months po which brings me to my 2nd question ! Most girls have said they get fitted 6 wks po but my boobs still clearly have loads of changes they're still hard & haven't completely dropped & muscles not relaxed has any 1 else had this & therefore waited to get sized ?I just think its pointless at the moment ?any thoughts pls xxx

Hi Rachael:

From what I gather here, most BA's take months to fully heal and settle; the muscles relax and release the implant and it "drops" and your breasts "fluff," becoming fuller and softer. I have also heard that you should treat each breast as a separate procedure, it is commone for them to be different at different stages of recovery. AND, your PS himself told you it would be a full few months for you to see your final result. So I think you have every reason to relax and wait it out. Personally, even though my PS said my breasts were progressing on even levels and are "nice and soft" and released me to go bra shopping, I am going to wait for the 6 month mark before I really go for sizing and buying enough bras to fill my wardrobe. I don't want to throw out a bunch more bras that don't fit! I'd rather invest that money after I am pretty sure they are done changing.

Follow your surgeon's adivce and be meticulous about his post op instructions right now (if he told you to massage, or not stress your muscles, or whatever) and just await your body's natural healing process. I am sure the lovely experienced ladies here will be along to tell you how much changing there is to be done between now and 5 or 6 months! Kisses, Sweentess! Xxxxxx

I would say if your surgeon has given the go ahead for you to wear normal bras and you want to there is no reason you can't go and get fitted now. However as you know they take months to settle and you still have lots of changes to come, so one or two bras will be fine untill you start to notice they dont fit anymore, then you can go get fitted again.
