Hi Claire, that's a difficult question to answer hun as none of us can predict how well you'll handle your recovery sweetness.

I'd air on the side of caution if you're thinking of how long to book off work hun and say 'at least' a week off... you may feel great and be able to enjoy the extra couple of days off, but then again you may need 'more' time, it all depends on your recovery hun, but I think booking just 3 days might be just a little too early hunni - sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear babe. xx

Hi hun!
I agree with cookie (sorry)

I couldn't of gone back after 3 days! I didn't feel human till prob day 3/4. The min I stopped taking the pain killers on day 3 and that's when I felt human again.

For ur bodies sake chick I'd book a few more days off. As everyones bodies heals so differently!

I'm due to go back tomorrow and I still don't feel ready but got to suck it up and go.xxx
Sorry if that's not what u wanted to hear :-( xxxx

Hey both,
Thanks for your reply. I'm having it done on the Saturday and thought to go back to work Thursday. Maybe I should change my op date to August I can then take 10 days. May is awkward as someone else is off on holiday 1st week of June. Oh man!! Lol. Did you have tubes? Do they hurt when taken out?
I can't wait, want to get them done tomorrow haha xxx

I would def think about taking longer than 3days off. Plus if you drive to work you won't be able to at 3days PO and you problies won't wanna use public transport incase people push into you. x

I have to agree with the girls hun, 3 days isn't very long at all. I was rough for the first week because of a reaction to the meds I was taking, unfortionately you can't predict how you're going to feel.

Ahhh ok I thought u meant 3 days as in get it done monday and go back on thursday.

That would be better but I'd still recommend a week chick. As the anesthetic takes about a week to be pretty much out ur system.

I didn't have drains or anything like that as my PS doesn't use them so afraid I can't help u with that. But I'm sure someone else will be able to help.
Sorry hun xxxx

Don't worry about the drains sweetie, you'll be fine.

Some ladies experience some discomfort when the drains get removed but this is for a second or two hun! I never actually felt a thing, I followed the instructions the nurse gave me, took deep breaths, I was told she'd take out the drain on the 3rd deep breath in, but before I'd even got there, it was done! I didn't feel a thing!

They really aren't anything at all to be concerned aboout hun - If you're a day case they'll only be in for as long as you're in the hospital, if you're in overnight, the drain stay's in overnight and gets removed in the morning before you get discharged. xx

I had 13 days off work and it was still tough going back. There's no way I could have gone back after 3 days! I couldn't move my arms up above elbow height to even get dressed, and was still on codeine painkillers meaning I still fell asleep randomly.
Your PS can sign you off sick for up to 2 weeks if you want to take another few sneaky days off without losing holiday x
