Is anyone taking marvelon/contraceptive pill?
Hi everyone,
Is anybody taking the contraceptive pill marvelon? I just wondered whether anyone was told to stop taking it before their op? If so how long before op did you have to stop?
Trying to sort dates in the diary before booking op, ideally don't want it to be the time of the month on op day!!
Any info would be great , thanks

Re: Is anyone taking marvelon/contraceptive pill?
Hi hun, I was allowed to carry on taking my pill through my op, but I was on a different one to you sorry. It seems to be that each clinic/surgeon has different rules so some girls are told to stop and other are told they can carry on taking them. I'd check with your clinic/surgeon just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for replying it would be good if I could do :) strange how there doesn't seem to be one rule for all ?! Thanks again xx

All of what ive read online doesnt say you have to stop taking it, just that the GA could make it not as effective, so to avoid using it as the only form of contraceptive for 2 weeks after op. Id ask your PS their personal preference, they usually ask if your on any medication etc anyways.

Hay
I asked this at my consultation the other night and was told if I could stop taking it then do it but she'd rather I be on the pill and not be pregnant for the op! and that they put those socks on to stop you getting all clotted anyway. (not sure clotted is the correct word! ha ha ) Hopefully you know what I mean. : )

I was told to take mine as normal but skip it on the day if the op to avoid clotting. I simply took 2 pills the next day and continued my pack as normal. Not been brave enough for any rudies(particularly boobie touching!) since my op so pregnancy is not possible!
