Re: March Buddies!
Yay!!!! Welcome back Elle, we were all starting to get a bit concerned about you, but you have come through it all and now have your beautiful boobies, making all the worry, anguish and trauma well worth it.
Now, get some rest and then update us more fully when you have recovered a little bit more

Its crackers isnt it, something that was a dream, an impossible thing that now is turning real. Its mad, but so many people get it done and come out the other side, so much happier and more confident. I think it will affect our lives in ways we cant imagine now. Bikini and beyond !! Re: March Buddies!
Hey girls!
I totally know how you are feeling EJM & my lovely Candycain! It's now the build up of waiting. I made sure on the way down to the hospital that I had my husband drive & then I put on some low key music and read. Just to keep my mind from going crazy. I also had been fasting all day so I was a bit cranky & head achey.
You will both be fine. They do these surgeries all the time. EMJ, you won't flip. You will have the chance to talk before you go in so you can just chat with your nurse and she/ or he will reassure you. It's hard to remember how badly you want these girls when you are that close to the date but I assure you, I take peeks at them and touch them where I can & just know I made the right choice.
Well, I'm heading back to the couch for more down time but I wanted to do a check in.
Thanks agian for everyone's concerns - I'm definitely feeling fine. The pain is no where near where I thought it would be. I think I mentioned it earlier in saying that even my husband is really surprised at the amount of pain (lack there of )... OH! AND both of us are surprised at how little of marks there are on me. When I take my bra off I just have 3 small bandaids on each nipple. I'm so relieved!
I was scared soo badly but I knew, all I have to do is get myself to the point that I'm on the bed & getting the anesthetic. Then I knew I would be in the clear and wake up with my twins! I got myself there & you girls can too. I think LL said it too, deep breathes. Those really help.
OH! One last thing, the nurse said everyone wake up from the anesthetic differently so I am sure my emotionalness & stuff is probably just me. It's not a big chance you'll wake up in pain and emotional so don't worry. But if you do know it's okay and won't last longer than I'd say a minute.
xoxo

Re: March Buddies!
Hi Girls!
Glad to hear you're all doing so well. I'm up on Tuesday so am starting to stress a bit now. Everything you said, Candycain, is what I'm worrying about! Mostly I'm worrying about being able to lift my babies afterwards. They are 17 months and 3, and it's only now I've been paying attention that I realise how often I lift them up. So hopefully that's a short term thing.
I've started taking my arnica, also a multi vitamin as I tend to be low on iron.
Off to the gym to get a session in!
Have a nice day xxx

Re: March Buddies!
Hi girls, I'm feeling so much better this morning. I've actually managed to get myself dressed!! Wohoo!! I'm also pleased to report that the crazy pointy nipples are beginning to subside a bit!
Elle - you're an inspiration to all of the girls on here who are frightened about going in. I'm sure they'll read your posts and feel so much more reassured!
Auriga - welcome and congratulations on your date (so soon!!). You are right in that you won't be able to lift your little ones straight after, so make as much use of all the help you can get as it's easy to get carried away with looking after the little ones and hinder your recovery. I have a 2yr old and an 8 month old, and I must admit that it's not very nice not being able to give them cuddles as much or do things for them, but it won't last for long. What I do at the moment is sit on my sofa and put a cushion in front of my chest, then I get my OH to place one of them on my lap so I can still have little cuddles with them but I'm protecting my chest at the same time. I'm really looking forward to the day when I can pick them up and give them a proper cuddle though!!

Yay!! So pleased for you hun - everything starts to just get better and better from here on in. In just a week or two when you are able to give your little ones all the cuddles and love that they want, you'll think "Well, that was a small price to pay as now I can do things and take them places I would have dreaded doing a few months ago."I'm feeling so much better this morning

Re: March Buddies!
Hey everyone. So nice keeping up with everyones progress and those just about to enter the adventure.
I am on day six now and feeling loads better. Felt great yesterday and probably overdid it abit by walking about a mile to see my son play football and then went out for dinner last night, so am taking it easy again today.
My boobs are aching a bit today and I am too really missing giving my babies cuddles. Just keep dreaming of Wednesday when I can get this itchy tape off my boobs. starting to itch like mad.
All in all, feeling really good and think that each day is just going to get easier and easier. Our week check will be the next milestone to see that the scars are all healing as they should. Then I reckon we are on home straight.
Hope you are all relaxing and healing well. x

Re: March Buddies!
Thanks Carol! You're so right. I actually took the kiddies to a local wildlife park today with my OH and my dad, but it was too cold for me and the shivering was making my boobs feel sore, so I went back to the car and had a nap while they all went off and saw the tigers! Too much too soon lol.
Shaydey, good to hear you're doing so well! I can't believe you're nearly at the week point already, it's gone so fast!
Couple of questions for you girls... did you all have drains? I didn't have any, but I haven't been particularly swollen either... I'm wondering if all the extra fluid or whatever has ended up in my belly because my waist is 3 inches bigger in 2 days!!!!! Could be a menstrual thing though as I have the contraceptive implant and was bleeding every day up until the op, and the bleeding has stopped altogether!
Also, are you all wearing either a strap or a sports bra 24/7? I just tend not to wear either most of the time, as I find them too uncomfortable.

Re: March Buddies!
LL - I too have had a big belly since the op but the nurse did say to me that the painkillers can make you constipated so i thought maybe it was a bit of that. not that i have taken them for a couple of days.
As for the strapping/bra sitch. Khan straps you up with tape that it not removable until you go to see the nurse for your post op so i have that on permanently but i have started to take the sports bra off for a couple of hours each night just to get them out a bit and give them a bit of breathing space.
I just keep feeling so tired. Every day since I have had it I have ended up falling asleep on the sofa for at least an hour. Proper passed out sleeping too. In fact just woke up :)

Re: March Buddies!
The tiredness and falling asleep is a common after effect of a GA Shaydey - I have had that from major operations in the past and it's like somebody just flicks a switch and off I went - even mid sentence apparently and it seemed to always happen about a set time. One reason why the car insurance is invalidated after a GA.
Didn't happen with me as bad as previously though after my BA - although I did lack energy for around a month.

Re: March Buddies!
Thanks Shaydey, I'm glad to hear the expanded belly is likely to be op related and not a permanent feature!! It's making my boobs look smaller in comparison grrr.
I know exactly what you mean about the tiredness. Carol - can it really take a whole month for the GA effects to fully wear off? That's such a long time! My OH literally just said to me that I look exhausted (so kind with his words hehe), and I've also had a nap every day, but I think it's a good thing anyway as it can only help us to rest and recover more quickly! Shaydey, it's almost like you have the job of forecasting our recoveries as you've done it all a day or two before the rest of us!
I literally just have two small dressings over my incisions and that's it, so I look at them whenever I get a chance! I bet you can't wait to get that tape off and have a proper look at them!

Re: March Buddies!
That was for a major op which I had hun where I was on the table for over 4 hours - so obviously it would have taken far longer to be eliminated from the system - and it will take longer for some people than others, even if they were under the anaesthetic for the same amount of time.

Re: March Buddies!
Really glad the sleep thing is a GA thing. Think my OH is starting to lose enthusiasm for having to do everything in the house and with the kids and then turns round and i am on the bed snoring. oops! hopefully it will wear off soon.
everyone is at school, nursery or work tomorrow and I am 'working' from home so no one will see if i grab a few winks.
LL - i know i do feel a sense of responsibillity to report back to everyone. Its v. funny. Cant imagine how it would have been doing this without this site though. Any little concern you have is squished in a second of asking on here.

Re: March Buddies!
Hey girls, sorry I've been bad updating on here, just had a full on relax day y'day had no energy and spent pretty much all of it asleep!!
Feeling alot better today though!
I've got abit of a big belly aswell! But i though it could be from siting on my bum the past week eating alot of chocolate and sweets!
I've only got the small dressings over my incisions and I've got my strap. But my strap is reallllly soft and not itchy at all so I've got mine on 24/7 only take it off to wash really. but if i feel achey I do loosen it right off.
I've got my week check on thursday afternoon and find out if i have to wear a bra or still just the strap.
I'm going to have to buy a new bra tho which has upset me abit.. I tried mine on the other day to try and get a clue what size i am and I tried my 36D bra and its too big!! :tears: I am hoping tho it's just because its a 36inch band because I am usually a 30/32 but the asda bras didnt do anyting smaller than a 36 when you have a D cup.. The cup did seem like it might fit tho if that band was smaller.. or at least I hope!
Hope everyones great and healing nicely! xx

Re: March Buddies!
best bra i have got is the zip front sports bra from marks and spencers. only £20 and its so easy to get on and off myself. only problem is they are always out of stock so have to keep going back on there to see if they have them in to get a black one.
Shiv - I was told to buy the same size band as i always was so I am not surprised that it would be too big to be honest. try ordering a 32D I reckon and see how it goes. So glad everyone is as sleepy as me :)

Re: March Buddies!
Haha, it's funny that we've all got bloated bellies!
Shiv, I think your 36D cup is the equivalent size of a 34E cup, or a 32F cup, so I wouldn't worry that it feels a little too big (unless you were hoping to be roughly an F?? lol). I have a 36DD sports bra which is waaaay to big in the cups, but too tight around the band (even though I'm normally 32).
Shaydey - I know what you mean about the OH! Mine has been washing dishes and hoovering all evening after running about after our kids all day, and I'm sat on here! I've been pretending to work whenever he's in the room so that I feel a little less guilty about it! eek.

I just had visions of you frantically swapping from here to a spreadsheet or something - but if you're writing an essay in Word, just check it to make sure you haven't included a message meant for here in the essay, or you might end up with one very surprised lecturer at uni LOL

Re: March Buddies!
Hey Marchies!
Okay, I'm just going to say - phewwwwww.... I'm all belly bloated too! I was thinking it was from just sitting around but I bet the whole constipation thing is effecting me too.
Also, I brought 3 different bras with me to the surgery to wear home because I was so confused on how to know how big I would be. LOL. I do keep my band on 24 hours a day for the first seven days post op. My nurse did tell me that if I want I can wear it over a t-shirt if it irritates me so that's something to try. I'm so scared of these things dislodging - I'm glad to have them snug tight.
AlishaJay & Lola, it's great that you girls have the same doctor and are so close to one another. Lucky to have found each other! I'll be looking forward to your big day with you both!
Anyway, I'm glad to see all Marchies on here and doing well... Even tho we're all bloated!

Candycain,
Awwww... I hope he's not serious but by the sounds of your message he may be. It's soooo rare that something like that could happen - don't even let this be a thought in your mind. You are going to be fine. You are not having open heart surgery. This is a routine surgery that is performed all the time by your surgeon. I don't have kids so I am not really all that great on giving advice there but I hope you and your hubby can feel a lot more confident going in to this. You will have time before your surgery to ask questions. Maybe write down what concerns your husband has and let the doctor answer him so he'll feel better.
xoxo
