i was told to remove all dressings & just leave the steri-strips after day 12.......she said there is no real need to keep the steri-strips on but it add to the 'safe ' & supported feeling you need i the 1st few weeks.................I kept my steri-strip on for about 3 weeks as i felt the 'need' (mentally!) to have them there! lol

I think I had dressings taken off after 1 week and then I had surgical tape over my scars and I was left to take these off myself after a couple of weeks. But as you have big implants you may need a bit more time!

Do you think I should get some new steri strips & clean the area then replace them?

Doesnt seem right to leave them on for long periods of time, bacteria n all that

I went and saw my PS yesterday and he replaced my steri strips (all I've ever had) and gave me several packs to take home with me. He told me that if they started to drop off from going in the shower etc then I should replace them for the next 6 weeks (when I've got my next appointment with him). He said that I should definately keep putting them on as they really help with the healing / final appearance of the scars!

I had dressings off after a week, and was given a supply of steri-strips so I could change them myself every couple of days after a shower. Yes, I say go buy some and keep everything clean yourself.

I will have had on the same waterproof dressing for 3 weeks before I see my PS next Wednesday - they did give me some spares incase the original one came off but it was stayed on fine. I am still only having shallow baths and then standing up to wash my hair in the shower without getting body too wet. The ones over my drain stitches came off last week and I changed them, one has come off again today but looks fine so am going to leave it uncovered now.

I would phone your PS secretary and ask if they didn't make it clear at your check up - I think when mine get taken off next week, he said I could start to massage scars with E45 - so sounds like I won't be having any other dressings or steri strips back on.
