Hi, Had my long awaited first consultation this afternoon at the Circle Hospital nr Bath - all was going well, we discussed the reasons why I wanted a BA, then he examined me and measured me and got me to stand in front of a mirror and say what I liked and disliked about my boobs. Suggested either a 250 or 295 cc teardrop implant partial unders, which is about what I expected.

He then said he would write to me and repeat everything he had told me in a letter and if I still then wanted to continue to make another appointment.

Then I asked him if he had seen that his secretary had pencilled me in for 23 Dec, he said that he had but he wasn't sure if he could do it as he is waiting for a knee operation!

So now I don't know what to do - Do I wait for him to have his surgery and recover and have my op next Feb half term (don't want to let down the teachers I childmind for, so has to be a school hols), but my daughter is getting married in May and will have tonnes of stuff to organise. Also by wanting it done at Xmas, my husband would be home to look after me without taking it as holiday.

Or do I find someone else - surgeon did say he would ask his colleagues at several hospitals if any of them worked in a similar style to him (he is very good does alot of reconstruction surgery and comes very highly recommended.

I now have to wait for the surgeon to ring me this week, when he has found out about his knee (don't see why he can't just sit on a tall stool on wheels and scoot about!) shrug

Hysterical That did make me laugh.

Just wait and see what your surgeon says next week then take things from there sweetie. at least you'll have all this week too to think about whether or not you'd prefer to stick with the surgeon you're happy with or choose another to get the date thqat's most convenient for you if he cant do it. xx

lmao hun, sit on a stool and wheel himself about. Have you been to any other consultations? It may take your chosen surgeon a while to recover from his op, so may not be able to do your op at your chosen times. I think it's really up to you if you decide to wait for the surgeon you have chosen and feel comfortable with or if you go back to finding another one. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to look around while you are waiting to find out.

Jellytot, until reading your post i have never even thought of the fact that a surgeon might be off work through illness or in need of medical attention!!! The planning for the surgery date revolves around so many things..work commitments, family responsibilities and a carer who can help you that first week post-op. Im gonna have nightmares tonight that my surgeon phones in sick on the day of my up and coming surgery!!!
For now your best waiting to see what surgery dates your chosen surgeon has available...It might be good news...he did say he wasnt sure. Fingers crossed for you...x

I know it's not something I had thought about either - I was pencilled in his diary for the 23 Dec by his secretary, so I could have maximum recovery before going back to work in new year, I have arranged for a friend to be my childminding assistant to help with lifting and have half planned Xmas to make sure everyone knows they won't be coming to me this year.

With childminding I have to give parents 4 weeks notice of holiday dates, but I generally give them about 4 months as several of them have got no family or friends in the area who can help and I as I look after several teachers kids I generally don't take time off in term time either. I know I need to learn to work to live rather than live to work but if I don't work for a week, 7 parents can't work either.

Has anyone else had the surgeon change dates at last minute due to sickness, operation, holiday or round of golf?
