Does everyone have drains?
Hi i know it sounds strange but for some reason i didn't think that every surgeon put in drains when you have a boob job.I seem to have got it in my head that it is just with unders or complications is this incorrect? Also what exactly are they all about? Thanks

I think it's the personal preferrence of your PS. I had them with Overs and I was told it was to aid with the removal of the fluid build up. Some people talk about their breast gurgling and making noises, I never had this but not sure if that's all due to drains or not.

I have unders and was told that I might have them. I didn't have them in the end though although I've never actually bothered to ask why not!!

I had them with both sets of overs. They are to remove blood from the incision site to avoid a possible haematoma. Some surgeons will wait and see how much you bleed at the time of surgery.

It's down to a surgeons personal choice whether or not they use them regardless of the choice of placement babe, some surgeons like to use them... some don't.
I've had a surgery without drains and a surgery with and didn't notice any difference in my recovery and had gurgling boobies both times.
You'll find a thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] hun in which James McDiarmid a BAAPs registered surgeon answered with his opinion on drains
