Re: drains
It's my understanding that some surgeons strongly believe so...at least mine did.
He said that it was his opinion ... I must say I had hardly any swelling and my breasts were soft straight away, I also had no bruising really, other than my hand where the cannula was....
The amount of fluid that was drained I am surprised it is not standard procedure to be honest.
xx

Re: drains
No.
Some surgeons believe it helps aid healing, others believe they're an avenue for infection and not needed at all for primary surgeries.
Drains are more often used for revision due to the higher risk of a bleed/infection. Xx

Re: drains

Re: drains
Yes. Infection is most likely surrounding the implant for a week post-op (but it can actually happen anytime) and if the surrounding area is infected then yes Tink, as your surgeon said it could result in being without an implant for anything up to 6 months before the implant can be replaced. Xx
Re: drains
Wow, that be awful. There was a girl I'm sure had an infection just after I joined xx

Re: drains
Agree with Cookie it seems to be surgeons preference on drains as to whether they use them or not. No evidence to suggest it reduces swelling. I've not heard it helps prevent CC, thought that was just luck of the draw.
