Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
you can put oil on them now just don't get any on your scars, not sure if you can massage, did your surgeon or nurse tell you to do so? maybe wait untill your check up and if they want you to massage they will show you what to do.
Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
I was told to leave them be until my 6 week check up then they will tell me how to massage them then. They need to stay in place so scar tissue can build up around them so I think it is advisable to leave them alone but if in doubt ask your clinic.

Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
I'm sure like misf1 says, it would be fine to pop a little oil or moisturiser on your boobs leaving your scars well alone if you want to, but don't massage.
Like my year, I was also told not to touch mine and to avoid as much movement as possible in the first few weeks giving the implant a good chance to adhere to the pocket. xxx

I'm sure you will be fine putting a it of bio oil on the skin (NOT the scars) but at the moment i would only massage your boobs if you have been advised to by your surgeon.

Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
What does the massaging actually do? Is it just to stop stretch marks or is there some other kind of benefit?

From what my doctor said, massaging the breasts religiously for a minimum 5 mins a day every single day will help the implants stay soft and feel more like natural breasts.
I have my 1 week post op check up tomorrow and my doctor will show me how to do the breast massage. He told me that after tomorrow i have to start doing it every day which im not looking forward to because they are still very tender! I can see why most people get told not to start untill 6 weeks!

Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
I have been told not to massage my boobs at all. I do rub moisturiser in every day tho. And massage my scar daily.

Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
I started massaging per PS instructions 4 days after my surgery at my 2nd pre-op appointment. He showed me how to do it. I do it 3 times a day and it feels fantastic!

confused about breast massage
I'm confused after reading some of the posts regarding massage. At my 1st post op check my nurse at Transform (manchester) told me to start massaging my breasts and showed me what to do, but some posts on here are saying not to massage to allow them to settle in the pocket? I don't want to be causing problems in the future for myself. Any advice girls?

I would do what ever your clinic advises you to, we all get told to do different things, so dont worry.
Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
Hi,
I went for my 2 week check up with my PS on Thursday and he told me to start massaging now. He explained that when something foreign is inserted into the the body the bodys immune system does not recognise as belonging to the body and quarantines it by putting a capsule round it, the capsule can become hard and constrict the implant ( capsular contracture) by massaging it helps the capsule stay soft, I hope I have explained right.
I massage 3 times a day with Bio Oil and I must admit my boobs feel better for it

Angie - Unless advised by your clinic/surgeon don't massage your breasts.
Most implants used are textured implants today and unless your clinic/surgeon advices you to it's not necessary -

Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
I am massaging them but they are still quite tender, so I'm probably not doing it very effectively at the moment. Thanks for the reassurance anyway shelle. xxshelle222 wrote:Hi,

I think you explained it right, sounds similar to what I was told.

Re: when can I start massaging boobs?
Hi Angie
I have just had revision surgery for CC in my right breast and my bottomed out leftie. My PS advised me to massage righty after 2 weeks prob to help prevent CC happening to me again. I never massaged until after 6 weeks when I had my BA last year.
Just do what your clinic / surgeon advises hun, we are all different
