Re: Out with the PIP's !!!
Hi,
I had mine redone 9 days ago. I found out that mine had leaked when i found a large lump on my left breast, i was referred to the local hospital by my gp due to a family history of breast cancer and they did an ultrasound and mri scan which showed the rupture. However when i went for my re-op, they also found that the right one had also ruptured, but i had had no symptoms on this side.
I initially had them done just over 2 years ago, However Surggicare on cover against rupture in the first 12 months, so i had to pay for my re-op. I would recommend that you go to your GP explain the situation and request an ultra sound scan. Then if anything is found contact surgicare immediately as if you contact them before 12 months is up they will have to do the re-op free of charge xxx

Re: Out with the PIP's !!!
Hi everyone
sorry i have not been on with an update in a while, the re-op really wiped me out, much more so than the first op.
Unfortunately things not going too good, as most of you are aware i found out about my rupture when i developed a large lump on my left breast. Last friday (2nd) just over 2 weeks post surgery, i noticed another large lump on the same breast, my post surgery aches and pains had worn off, but i now find myself in the situation i was in when i had my rupture, a large lump on my breast and a constant ache inside the breast.
I immediately rang the company, they have said it is not possible to have another rupture as the implants used this time are much better, and they have stated that they are not willing to do anything until i have a post surgery check with the surgeon who carried out my operation at the end of August !!!
I really cannot believe this situation, i keep trying to tell myself that lightening cant strike twice etc etc, but this feels exactly the same as last time. Im getting to the stage where i wish i had never had the first BA done xx

Re: Out with the PIP's !!!
maybe all the old gel from your PIPs wasn't removed properly or something? Or hopefully it's just a bit of swelling from all the surgery that breast has been through, but I can't beleive they are trying to make you wait so long to be seen!
Even if they don't think it's a new rupture (which a receptionist on the phone wouldn't know anyway!) they should still see you soon because obviously something isn't right. Try phoning them again leigh.
Sorry you've got more worry about this, I hope it's nothing bad and just part of the healing process. Take care x

Sending big hugs Leigh. I would also question if all of the leaked gel has been removed. You really need to fight to be seen before August to get this sorted. Here's hoping your PiPs nightmare ends soon and you can enjoy your boobs again xx

Re: Out with the PIP's !!!
hi leigh,
Im so sorry to hear that you are having problems again, I wonder if all the silicone was removed in your op, did the surgeon say he had done a full clean up? He needs to see you again sooner than August.
The best of luck getting this sorted out so you can move on!
MissP. x

Oh hunny, I was wiped out too after my re-op to correct my rupture, it took me 3 months to get over the worst of it and I'm still six months on recovering
Don't take any rubbish from your clinic hunni, ALL implants have the potential to rupture! Some ruptures are simply unexplained as mine was (I had CUIs)
I'd call the clinic back babe and demand an appointment with your surgeon to assess the problem with your breast, if you're refused again, request to speak with the clinic manager explaining your syptoms and as I'm presuming you are covered through an aftercare policy, tell them you'd like to take advantage of the care you've paid for and be seen by a surgeon ASAP.
Good luck sweetheart. xx
Re: Out with the PIP's !!!
hello all
I'm new to this site and am really worried about the PIP implants i had mine in feb 2008! I've no idea if they are ok or not and am not sure where to start about getting them checked or even if i would be able to afford to have them replaced, which means i'm stuck with these things until they actually cause me some harm, which to me is to late! I'm so worried and scared, dont know where to start have tried to contact HMG but seem to be getting anywhere

As yet sweetheart there is no evidence to suggest that the materials used in PIPs are harmful hun.
You need to contact your GP if you can't get anywhere with the HMG and tell the GP that BAAPS, issued new safety recommendations to the UK public calling for all women who have PIP implants to undergo an ultrasound
scan in the next six months, to determine whether there is any rupture
or weakening.
You may find it helpful to print off this page HERE to take with you hun.
Your 1st step is getting that scan to ensure the PIPs are in tact sweetheart.
Re: Out with the PIP's !!!
This my first post..
Leigh did you know before you had your scan that the implant was ruptured? I mean could you feel it yourself.
I have PIPS i think although I called 3 days ago to find out and emailed the surgery and they have yet to confirm, I knwo they are though as I remember them saying so..
I am going to see my gp tomorrow to ask if I can have an ultrasound.
