Micropore tape
I was told by the nurse that the micropore tape should last for two showers. I have now had two showers and it is still in tact, so do I still need to change the tape to keep it fresh or can I just wait until it starts to come off and then replace it?

Re: Micropore tape
Is it bad for the scar to leave the micropore tape on a bit longer? I thought by leaving it on I was reducing the chances of it getting infected? I think I will try changing it tomorrow then.

My surgeons advice was only to change it every 3 to 5 days.
I did mine every four days as it always stayed on after showers. I was allowed to stop wearing it yesterday and my scars look great.

Re: Micropore tape
I left mine on until it came off of its own accord. When you get out of the shower, dry the tape gently with the hairdryer. When it doesn't stick any more take it off. That's the advice I had from my PS. I think it came off about 2 weeks po x

Re: Micropore tape
My surgeons advise was to change it only when it started to peel off at the ends. If you take it off sooner than that you can irritate the scars. I had to wear the tape for 3 months :-O but i have to say my scars are ruddy fab!!! :-) the theory was the longer its held in place by the tape the neater they are.....def worked for me. Each PS has diff rules though so just abide by what your PS says :-)

Re: Micropore tape
Thanks for the replies, I think I am now going to leave it on until they peel off naturally as it still seems quite sticky and I wouldn't want to irritate my scars and make things worse. It does take quite a while for the tape to dry so I think I will try the hairdryer trick! 3 months is a long time to wear the tape but it pays off if the scars look good. x
