I don't have a Pre-op...
... is this common?
I paid my final payment on Monday and got my addmission letter yesterday. It doesn't mention a pre-op though and I wonder if this is only required for a select few.
It also mentions I need to buy my own compression garment... did anyone else have to do this also and which did you buy?
Thanks girlies... 15 days to go!!

Re: I don't have a Pre-op...
I only had to go for an mrsa screening a week before but that was it. Have you had to fill out a health questionnaire or anything? Cos I think they ask you in if there is something they need more info on, I'm not sure.
I assume you mean compression bra and not compression stockings? I wasn't told to buy anything, all I took with me was a selection of sports bras.
15 days, not long now!

Re: I don't have a Pre-op...
I had to buy my own sports bra, nothing else. I had a pre op appointment with the nurse just to go over my medical records and go through what I was and wasn't allowed to do.
Re: I don't have a Pre-op...
I didn't have a pre-op appointment and just bought some cheap sports bra's in different sizes then bought better ones once the swelling had gone down.
I think it all depends on individual cases hun
Not long for you now !! xx

Re: I don't have a Pre-op...
I had a pre op. They swabbed me for MRSA, and took a urine test and a blood test to detect any possible infections I might have. I have no probs in my medical history and have had succesful GAs before too. It is normal procedure with BMI I think.
I was given compression stockings in hospital too.
Seems like a few girls had no pre-op so I guess it's not that unusual?? You could always ring and ask why they don't do one?

Thanks girls, I think I will ring and find out why I don't have one, just to be on the safe side.
I'm inclined to think they mean the compression strap when they sy garment... if they meants sports bra would they just not say sports bra? Did any other MB girls have to buy a strap??
I should probably ring and ask them to clarify this as well...

Re: I don't have a Pre-op...
Oooh it's getting exciting now hunny!
I had a pre op with Transform. I saw the nurse and he asked a million questions about possible conditions and illnesses I could have (I've never felt so healthy in my life!!) and he told me what to expect, what I could and couldn't do post op and he took photos and gave me an appointment date in for my 10 day post op check.
Give them a ring to put your mind at ease and to clarify about the compression thing. Do they mean stockings???

I didn't have a pre-op either, maybe it's something to do with the hospital protocol and perhaps John and Lizzie's don't do it.
And I was told to buy bras, but not a 'garment'. Like you say, just give them a ring to clarify - they could have got you mixed up with a liposuction patient or something - I think they need 'garments' afterwards!
You must be getting really excited by it all now BP

Thanks lovely ladies! I am really excited, its so close I can feel it... plus my chicken fillets in the heat are making me really sweaty and itchy, can't wait to be rid of them!!!
They gave me a website to get 'compression garments' from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and I get 15% if I quote them but they don't specify in the letter which I should get. I'm also getting my ears done and I know I will need the compression band but assumed they provided that...
I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't have a pre-op, I'm pretty fit and healthy with no bad medical history so thats probably why, I just wanted all corners covered was why I was worried
Thanks again chicadees, you're all so wonderfully supportive!

Re: I don't have a Pre-op...
No pre-op at St Johns for me either. Just loads of questions with the nurse when you are taken into your room. MB tried to flog me their own post op bra when I had my first op but I just bought the zip up ones from M&S as they looked virtually identical and were half the price. I didn't have to wear a strap either. Not long to wait now honey and you can join us "on the other side" lol xxx
