Does dental work cause CC
Hey girls!!
I've just read that if you have dental work after your ba, this includes just having them cleaned, you should have antibiotics to prevent cc, I'm now in a panic because I've been today for a check-up and he gave them a clean. xx

I wouldn't have thought so, but might be a good question for James McDiarmid

I read something similar... apparently the germs from your mouth/food/tongue can get into your bloodstream through your gums, they usually give antibiotics for this reason after major dental work...

Hey, I heard this a while ago and posted in the complications section with this link I found:

I think it's mostly dental surgery (e.g. root canal work) that causes a risk because it causes a way for the bacteria in your mouth to enter your bloodstream, I think just a clean should be fine. xxx

Thanks for this Jessica, it makes interesting reading. I was demented last night looking for information on dental work and cc, and I did find some comments saying you even had to be careful when having a clean incase the dentist scrapes your gums. I've asked James, it will be good to get his opinion. xx

Yes I'd be interested to hear his opinion too! I actually stopped flossing my teeth for a little while after my op because I was worried about when it made my gums bleed, but I have flossed since occasionally and had no problems. I would be so embarrassed having to tell my dentist to be careful with my gums because of my boobs though lol! xxx
