Re: 2 Questions
My admission time was 8 or 9am but I didnt go down till after lunch 2ish maybe. So deffinatly take mags & you should have a tv in your room too.
As for showering you probs wont be able to for a couple of days cos you may not feel up to it. I had shallow baths about 3days after. But remeber you cant get the insicions wet for at lest a week until after your first check up. Aslong as you dont soak them you will be fine though. x

Re: 2 Questions
My admission time was 8.00am and was told surgery would be at 10.00am, but ended up getting taken at 9.30am!
They had sky tv in my room so time passed quite quickly thankfully :)
They told me it would be best to have a shallow bath for the 1st week too as your not allowed to get any dressings wet, but the thought of getting in and out the bath just sounds so painful right now! x

Re: 2 Questions
You'll probably go down about 2-3 hours after your admission time. Within that time you'll meet your surgeon, anaesthetist and go thorough all the plans of the day. There's a lot of waiting about, so take loads of stuff to keep you occupied!

Re: 2 Questions
i was told 5 days before i could shower but every surgeon gives different advice so i would ask your surgeon and follow his advice.
I had to wait a while for my surgery but they gave me pre-meds which made me sleep for a bit.

Re: 2 Questions
I agree I would take lots of things to read and there will also be a tv in your room. I was admitted at 12.00 and due to being first on the list, I was down in theatre about 1 ish! It was all pretty quick and not much waiting around for me. I think my ps thought I would run away or something he knew how incredibly nervous I was!

Re: 2 Questions
I would take something to read although you will probably be able to watch some day time TV in your room. I had an admission time of 7:30 and was in about an hour later. It all happened so quick I didn't have time to read.
Re: 2 Questions
My admission time was 7am and I was taken into surgery at about 10:45. Like the others have said take some mags and books, IPOD with you to keep you occupied and you will have a TV in your room.
As for showering I was told that I could have shallow baths from day 1 but wasn't allowed to shower until day 10 after my first check up
