Pre BA prep
....in advance of having a BA & Rhinoplasty?
I have heard some people talking about taking Arnica tablets for bruising (which I believe are homeopathic) but my surgery info sheet said no homeopathic medicines, no garlic, no alochol etc beforehand. I'm going with Transform so not sure if this is one of their requests or general for all BA/Rhino surgeons?
Also, I know I need to get some bio-oil for 6 weeks post op, but is there anything i could be (or should be) doing now, ie: moisturiser for boobs etc. Conscious of the skin stretching and want to make it as easy as possible.
I'm eating really healthily now and drinking lots of water. Is there anything else I need to do that I haven't thought of?
Only 2 weeks to go and starting to get anxious that I have forgotten something, lol.
Thanks

Re: Pre BA prep
I was allowed to take arnica, but if it says you shouldn't then I wouldn't until after your op. I would follow their instructions to the letter. I put bio oil and moisturiser on my boobs before my op and straight after. You are just not allowed to get anything on your scars for 6 weeks. As long as you are eating healthy, and drinking plenty of water, I don't think there is anything else you need to do. Good luck for your op not long to go.
Re: Pre BA prep
I too like misf1 was told to take arnica 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after, but again like misf1 says if your info tells you not to then you should follow what that says.
I used palmers cocoa butter on my boobs before and after, but not on the scars, once I was told I could use stuff on my scars I used bio oil for the scars but carried on with the palmers for my boobies as I found the oil too oily for me...

Re: Pre BA prep
I had my op with Transform a few months ago and was instructed to take Arnica.
Have you had your pre-op appontment yet? you can ask the nurse if she doesn't mention it whether you'll be OK to take it but you should be fine.
In addition to what has already been said, start strengthening your stomach muscles!!! you're going to need them to help you getting up as you won't be able to lever yourself up with your arms and the stronger your stomach muscles are the better! xx

Re: Pre BA prep
I asked my surgeon about taking Arnica and was advised not to take it if I hadn't taken it before. I did as instructed and had no bruising at all. All surgeons appear to differ on their opinions, it's best to follow instructions given.
In addition to eating healthy and drinking tons of water, I moisturised the boobies with bio-oil for about 5 weeks before my op, applying it morning and night in preparation.
Good luck, not long to go! x x

Re: Pre BA prep
the thing is, it doesnt actually say don't take arnica, it just says no homeopathic stuff - which technically arnica is.
I think i will phone my co-ordinator tomorrow and see what she says.
I'm not too worried about boob bruising as only i will see that, but i'm having my nose done at the same time and haven't told work about it. They said the bruising should be minimal or coverable by makeup by the time i return but want to help it along just in case.
Cheers girls xx
