Hi All, my BA is getting close now, and i wonder if you could let me know a few things;

how long after your op were you recommended to wait before having a shower? How did you manage to wash your hair, would leaning over a bath be possible? or would i be too sore?

I've bought some senokot to take afterwards, as i've seen a lot of you say you suffered with bloating after your ops? is there anything else you would recommend i buy before hand?

how many different sized sports bras did you buy?

any advise would be greatly appreciated 👍 x

Hi hun, i took a shallow bath (i dont have a shower) after 2 days but washed my hair about a week later while in the bath as bending over didnt feel too nice! After 2 weeks my ps said i could bathe normally.

I only took one sports bra which was the marena which adjusts to any size, but i did need one with a wider back for swelling x

Hi hun, Im only 6 days post op so still havent had a shower (cant wait til i can!) I had a shallow bath on day 2 which makes you feel so much better. After a couple of days my hubby washed my hair for me over the kitchen sink (much easier cos its higher than the bathroom one) he even dried it for me! Bless him, he tried his best, but boy did i look scarey when he'd blow-dried my hair!!
I'm still all strapped up so not a sports bra on yet.
Hope this helps and that all goes well for you :) xxx

They usualy say a week, the point is not to get your scars wet so you can have a shallow bath or shower the lower part of your body, the rest you have to wash with wipes or sponge it being careful about your wounds. I didn't wash my hair during that week but it felt so horrible that I ended up going to the hairdresser!

Hi Hunni

I normally wash my hair every day, so it was not nice not being able to. I had shallow baths from day 2, my b/f washed my hair (and dried it - very traumatic experience!!) on day 4 and by day 5 I was able to wash it myself over the bath... very carefully. It wasn't comfortable but I could do it.

I think I could shower from day 7.

I had my first shower at 7 days, and i washed my hair at day 6 over the bath (my nan and mam helped) but it didnt really work as i had a cast on my nose too and i couldnt get it wet.
Dont know about the bloating as i didnt take anything and didnt get bloated anyway.
I only bought one size sports bra based on what size my surgeon advised me to buy x
