How many girls took arnica tablets before surgery? Do you think it helped in any way? I have some arnica tablets that say you have to dissolve it under your tongue?! Sounds a bit weird, not sure if I have bought the right ones!

I took them for a week before my op and had no bruising whatsoever, I would definitely recommend it hun!!!! I bought mine from Holland and Barrett for a fiver and you can either dissolve them under your tongue or chew them

I was told by my ps not to take any if i'd never taken it before, so I didn't and had no bruising at all.

I think you should always consult your surgeon before taking anything hun, they all differ in their opinions on everything, so it's always best to check.

I wasn't recommended arnica. I have a blood condition that means I bruise very easily but I still had hardly any bruising after the op. Won't hurt to give it a go though, you never know x

I think I'm going to start taking them about a week or so before surgery and then carry on taking them for about a week after? Does that sound about right or will I need to take them for a longer or shorter period? But think I will take your advice Funkygirl and double check with the hospital and see what they say, but I think its worth a try just in case they do help, I can't see that they can do much harm.

HI Starz, congrat on booking your ba, my surgeon didn't want me to take any, so I didn't and I had no bruising at all.. I have used it in the past and I do believe in it, but I didn't want to upset my surgeon, esp if anything went wrong with ba I didn't want any comeback that I hadn't done what he asked.. maybe just run it by your surgeon, I knnow some don't mind and some do.. xxxxx

I was advised to take arnica, which I did for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. I don't know if it helped with the bruiseing or not, but I fell over the week before my op and what would normally havebeen a really bad bruise on my foot was a very slight bruise that disappeared very quickly. So there must be something in it.
