Confused after consultations! Empty Confused after consultations!

Post by Starz-10 6th April 2010, 6:20 pm

I've had two consultations and both surgeons said completely the opposite things and now I am so confused as to who to choose or whether to see more surgeons for more opinions! Has anyone else experienced this?

One recommended smaller implants over the muscle and the other one said larger implants under the muscle! Is there really a lot of difference in have unders and overs? I didn't think I had enough breast tissue for overs but then I suppose the surgeon knows best! x

I had the same experience when I first started out hun.

I had a surgeon who preferred giving girls a natural look with smaller implants and unders (Stephen Hamilton) and one that preferred bigger implants and overs (Mr Singh)

I just went for who I felt more comfortable with and looking at the pictures of SH's work I was confident he was the surgeon for me.

Also with unders/overs, this is also the surgeons preference, some are more cautious than others. Going under the muscle adds about 1cm more tissue to disguise the implant. If you're not worried about having a rounded look at the top when you wear a push up bra then going over the muscle may be for you.

You just need to weigh the pros and cons hun x

Were the surgeons with different companies?

I agree with Cookie, a third consultation may help you to decide and go with the majority!

What size are you now? I was a small B cup to start off with and had enough tissue for overs. Likewise there are girls on here who were A cups and had overs.

I was told overs by all 3 surgeons that I saw however I was told that I could have unders if I really wanted them. I think, generally, unless you are very skinny/flat chested you can normally have both placements.

Good luck!

Why oh why do different surgeons reccommend different placements, sizes etc, as if we're not confused enough! Like Cookie has just said hun, I'd go and see another surgeon and get their oppinion.

Both surgeons I booked through the hospital closest to me as I don't really want to travel too far after having the op. I am an A cup at the moment and size 6 so it confused me when I was recommended overs as I said I was looking for the more natural look.

You can achieve a very natural look with overs as well as unders. I'd go back and see the surgeons again and tell them that you are confused and can they explain their reasonings to you?

I have overs and mine look and feel natural :) I think overs sound like they will look more fake if you know what I mean? I thought it at first too!

I was an A and a size 8 (although if I stopped eating chocolate all the time I waould probably be a 6 Confused after consultations! Icon_rolleyes ) and had 410 overs which take me a to a G measurement wize but clothed I only look about a DD/E

I would see another surgeon and see what he says, and if you are still confused I agree with Marie to ask the surgeons to explain their reasons :)

I would see at lest one more surgeon and get his/her opinion. At the end of the day though you I would say go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Good luck. xx

I saw 2 PS's one suggested unders & one overs. Deep down i knew unders were wrong for me. I thought i had quite a bt of breast tissue anyway so to suggest unders seemed so wrong for me! Plus i exercise too & had read stories of the muscle moving the implant when you flex...not a look i wanted. Anyway.....i had my cons with 2nd PS who literally measuered how much breast tissue i had & said overs straight away.

What do you feel is right for you??? go for a 3rd & see what they say xx

Confused after consultations! Empty Re: Confused after consultations!

I saw 3 surgeons at 3 different companies, 2 of which were adamant that unders was the best placement as I didn't have enough breast tissue and one surgeon recc overs as he said I had enough breast tissue for overs (I was a small B cup).

I really didn't have any preference with regards to placement, however, I ended up going with the surgeon who recc overs. The reason was that I trusted and felt the most comfortable with this surgeon. I just knew he was right for me and completely trusted his judgement. I did go back and see him for another consultation to clarify why he recc overs and again spoke to him on the phone and email after I saw the 3rd surgeon who recc unders. He explained everything to me in detail and I was happy with his decision.

I am 4 weeks PO now and I had round overs and I think I have a very natural look, even thou I am a very slim size 6. I absolutely love my boobies and i'm very happy with them!

Like the girls have said ask anothers opinion and don't be afraid to ask as many Qs as you need, especially the reasons why they have recc something. When you have found the surgeon you want to carry out your op, you will know!

Good luck x x

I hate the thought of the muscle distorting the implant, it's not a look I want either. I'm not really sure what I feel is right for me as I just want a natural look. Think I will book another consultation just for another opinion. x

Glad you are happy with them, it has made me feel better about having overs if you are pleased with your results. I just don't understand how some surgeons can say there is enough breast tissue and then others say there isn't, it's worrying and confusing who to trust! x

Hey Lovely
I had the same as you so I saw a third surgeon and thats who I am going with. I knew I wanted overs and was surprised when the original surgeon I saw changed his mind from overs to unders when I went to pay my deposit!
I think the third opinion would really help plus you know more since your last 2 consultations so you are more equipped to ask more questions, well thats what I thought anyway Confused after consultations! 184153
