feelings straight after surgey
Hi ladies,
Had my op on weds 3 rd feb bristol nuffield. was 34 aa/a had 280cc under muscle teardrop.
first initial thoughts after apart from pain, was worry that right boob bigger than left and i prefer right boob which will go down. any way as the days hav passed that worry has now changed to i actually don ,t care anymore that i prefer the bigger one i would actually like it to just go down and look like the other one !!
the left breast feels absolutely fine, no pain no swelling almost like its had nothing done to it. now the right breast has a story of its own !! it feels really swollen, looks swollen and bigger is a bit hot not boiling, numb , hard and feels like its got a bit of a ridge at the top more than the left almost like you could balance something on it !! its a pulling feeling almost drawing down. both sets if stiches are pulling but the right pulls more. i do have feeling in both nipples though.when i cup my hands around them i can feel they are bigger but hubby says its not that bad . now i can see they are different and right bigger but hubby again says not that bad but he says the right is swollen.
I m wearing a bandeau type support bra with boobs poking out it keeps the implants in place but you can 't help taking a peek all the time and feeling them and adjusting it all the time !did anyone else wear this or do you wear a sports bra straight after ? i suppose it depend s on whether you go under muscle or not.
i am getting loads of rest and sleeping really well. taking parecetomol and difloflex with the odd tramadol cause pain is not too bad. day 4 now so what i want to know is, is that am i being a bit over the top? i posted photos to surgeon who said not to worry right muscle was tougher so its going to swell more.
i can 't help being worried though.if anyone else has had similar happen to them did yours go down and end up looking the same ?
thankyou , pink worried hen !!!

It's so early hun you have so many changes to go through, sounds like you muscles maybe holding one implant a litlle tighter than the other. It can take 6 weeks for a muscle to heal after trauma so you may find it will take a little while for them to start to even up. I really wouldn't worry. It takes months to see the full result. Even mine haven't stopped changing yet.

Re: feelings straight after surgey
I definitely understand the 'ridge' thing - I had major ridge going on with my left boob to start as it was so swollen. And it's completely normal to have pain in one and not the other - weird as it seems. I have to echo misf1 in that it can take months for them to settle properly.
I was the same - constantly peeking and adjusting my bra! I didn't have the same bra as you though, just normal sports bra. Best thing to do - watch a really good film or do something to take your mind off it, otherwise you'll end up worrying about your boobs all the time and it'll drive you mad! Please know that how you're feeling now is normal, I was the same, and it will get better as you see improvements over time xxx

Re: feelings straight after surgey
Hi hun, I had mine 2 weeks ago and mine are still uneven too, I'm also quite worried about it but I am just trying to be patient and wait for the left one (my dominant side and the side that bruised the most) to catch up and drop evenly to my right.
Its frustrating I know but I think its just a case of trying to be patient and try not to nit pick too much at such an early stage... hmmm maybe I should try taking my own advice!

Re: feelings straight after surgey
I was going to suggest seeing your surgeon again, but if he said it was normal, just going to take a little time.
Get some Arnica from boots or somewhere, take one or two a day, see if that helps. Should help with bruising of muscles and swelling.
Hope your feeling better soon x

Re: feelings straight after surgey
Hi pinkhen,
I also had my ba on the 3rd... unders too, some am also wearing the binder! Uncomfortable at times aint it!!
Had my first check up yest, and the nurse re-assured me its normal to have more pain in one boob than the other...
Are u right handed? It dawned on me today thats perhaps why my right boob is more painful as I use the muscles on this side more.
Hope you're feeling more comfortable soon xx

Re: feelings straight after surgey
hi ladies,
what a relief i went to have stiches out today. surgeon said everything fine its just the right breast had more work done on as that is the side i use the most. also she said that the implant that side is sitting higher and it s just a case of my body adjusting and waiting for it to settle in also there is going to be more swelling there.
i feel a lot better today although it feels bigger and does look a bit bigger i m just going to try and relax about it and hope it settles down. i m going back in 2 weeks.
the bandeau support bra is a pain but important to wear to try and push implants down. i ve got over the worry of size as i was was pleasantly surprised today. they are just right for my body/shape.
hey noodles how are you feeling then ? are you doing much ? i m still trying to take easy but hard with 3 kids !! do you have much pain ? it is still uncomfortable and the left one hurting aswell i think its coz i ve eased up on painkillers because i don,t want to overdo it if you know what i mean
thankyou everyone for your responses love this site !! still loads of things to ask for a while yet i guess

Re: feelings straight after surgey
I went back to work today and it was fine, although I was so tired as I'm only managing about 4 hours sleep a night, purely because I find sleeping on my back so awkward.
glad things went well for you pinkhen :)
can anyone remember how long i was till they started sleeping on side/front?

Re: feelings straight after surgey
I started moving onto my side still propped up after a week, lost the pillows grdually at 1.5 to 2 wks and the last few nights i've been experimenting with sleeping on my front which is actually not as bad as i thought it would be!
I am almost back to normal pain wise, i get the odd twinge at my incision sites but nothing major. they still feel a little heavy in the mornings but I have full mobility back on my arms now.
With Driving, I drove a 30min journey 1 week post op as i thought i would be ok as i have really light steering. Its not the steering thats tough its the gears! Anyway about an hour after i drove i was struck down with severe pain in my left boob- the worst i have ever felt, i thought my boobie was going to explode! I think it was muscle cramp in my damaged muscle as it only lasted a minute or so but it was baaaad. So I haven't driven since then until today i drove to the supermarket which was fine.
I am still a little swollen, it can take 6wks for all swelling to go down, however they are looking nicer and nicer everyday. I had some nasty bruising which is now fading quite quickly (phew i thought it would never go!). My left is still a different shape, a bit more swollen and a little higher than my right but they are slowly evening up now and i think my left just needs longer to drop into place. I don't know about your but mine started off quite far apart (like under my arms) but they have now moved forward and are creating a nice cleavagey look, this is probably the main difference I have noticed over the last 2 weeks. It is good to keep a photo diary of your boobies as its hard to see the changes until you look back at what they were like at the very beginning!

hiya ladies
so glad to hear from you , oh noodles feel for you not being able to sleep and then work. i loved all the painkillers they knocked me out but they finished now... not sleeping too bad . have nt tried sideways or front. i do feel like i m sleeping on a skyscraper though when i look down on husband sleeping like a baby !!
glad hattie yours are changing and looking more even. its definately a slow process and i feel completely differently now. i m trying not too look too much .the driving thing you can understand but i feel like i could drive now. i m lucky i can walk to school , getting shopping delivered so i ll wait till next week.
mine felt a bit far apart and skin streched out accross breastbone but that seems to be altering. ridge does, nt seem to feel that bad either. yesterday my surgeon told me not to look at them in the mirror till i see her next in 2 weeks because otherwise you just over analize them.now this is a hard task as you can imagine but i ll be honest i have nt today, only looked down when in shower !! i did,nt peek in mirror . i ,m going to try really hard not to hav a sneaky look without the support bra on.!!! do you think you could manage that one noodles ?? 2weeks no looking ?!
is anyones feeling hot/burny at all.mine were today but i wonder if thats coz i may be doing too much ? or is it just your body trying to get used to having implants?
take care x

they did a little bit at the beginning hun, they still get a little warm from time to time but not as much as they did. I also decided to stop looking at them for a bit but it didn't last very long! It's so true though its way too easy to over analyse and get boobie OCD!
