Any tips on things to take to hospital/post op etc
Ok I go in for my BA and other work a week tomorrow and will be spending 2-3 nights in hospital. I have the usual bits and pieces ready to take in with me. I always wear pyjamas at home but as I'm having a thigh lift and tummy tuck as well it has just occured to me that I will probably be better off trying to get some nighties for the first week or so as pyjamas might be tricky around my legs and tummy while they are still sore.
Just wondering any tips on anything to take in with you for the stay in hospital, or anything to have post op at home, or anything you did in advance to make life easier for when you came home??
Thanks :)

Definately buy the button front type nightie Lola as you'll be uncomfortable raing your arms at first. Oh and don't get the satin kind! your supposed to keep yourself raised at first to aid the swelling and in satin nightwear you eand up sliding all round the bed! LOL
Don't know if you have a V pillow, but if you don't, it's a must have!
Also ice packs, if you don't have those, get some bags of frozen peas in hun as this helps so much with the swelling and as I recently found, the itching too!
I found the pain killers that were given to me made me feel really sick, so I stopped taking those and just used paracetamol and ibufren which helped loads, so might be worthwhile getting some of those in just incase you dont get on with the painkillers, my nurse said I wasn't the first to feel like that.
E45! your skin will get so dry after the surgery, so that's great for putting some moisture back in, no where near the wounds though!
get anything you think you might use or need that is up high and bring it down so that they are easy for you to get to.
If your making meals that can be frozen, make a little extra and freeze some now, to save you having to cook anything after your surgery.
Hmmm... If I think of anything else I'll come back to this Lola. xx

I agree with all sensible advice Cookie has offered, def. cotton button front nighties
Dry shampoo
body and face wipes
lipbalm/lippy
fresh smelling perfume
magazines/book/pen/puzzle book
new cotton (bigger) nicks for ease and comfort
Hair bands
At home lots of pillows and the must V!!
Everything at low height and shopping in advance as meals prepared too!!
Something to reach things you cant/forget...I used a walking stick??? It also helped me to lean on to get out of bed !!
Anything else I think of will add.....Good Luck...it is fun xx

I've just mentioned to Alfie, that I wish I'd remembered to take some mints with me into hopsital - I was kinda out of it too for a while and couldn't get up to brush my teeth and I would have given anything for a freshener, so definately pack some mints to take with you to take with you to the hospital Lola. x
