Placement Questions after consult
Hi All!
I am a bit confused after my consultation today with Mr Sterne at MyBreast. He was great and really explained everything and put me at ease so I lost my nerves :-)
He said that I could have over or partial under placement and intially said overs. Then I explained what I wanted in terms of look which is more about the globe look that results in the roundness of the cleavage at the top of the breasts and he changed his mind and said that this could be achieved more if I have partial unders.
He said the overs will start off as being quite high up with the roundness but they will drop and look more natural so maybe partial unders would be better.
This has confused me as the link below that I have referred to when I started looking into surgery explains that the over placement does create this round and globe look and that partial unders creates more of a natural look!!!!!!

He said that due to the width of my boobs now I can have a 560/580 implant which I thought was going to be massive but on me it didnt look as big as I thought and I preferred it to the 450 I tried.
The other thing is I have been measured by various places and am told I am a 32d and since I have lost some weight (thats when I got measured) I have always felt like I am no way a D. Turns out that the surgeon today thought I was a 32 but more like a C and he even said a small C!! I was like I KNEW IT!!!
Sorry for the long thread and hope you can help me :-)
Lots of love
Gail

Re: Placement Questions after consult
Hi Gail,
I had 410 overs. My boobs look really natural which, if you have enough breast tissue to start with and you're not too thin, overs will tend to do this.
However, with overs, you can make them look fake by the type of bra that you wear.
So, for example, if I wear a balconette bra, they look very rounded at the tops (the globe look that you explained). It depends on the bra that you wear.
I didn't have unders so I can't explain those to you, but I wouldn't have thought that they will give you the rounded look at the top that you are after, but I'm sure that some unders girls will be here soon to advise you.
I hope that this explains it a little bit. As you are a 32C, I'm surprised that your surgeon offered you unders.
If you want to look at my pictures, you are more than welcome to.

Re: Placement Questions after consult
I know what your surgeon means and will try to explain why I think he's said it - everyone thinks overs give you that VB roundness and they do if you have no breast tissue BUT overs will drop and appear more natural in time as they relax in your skin - you can still get that 'fake' look though as when pushing overs up the roundness of the implant is more visible. With partial unders, which I have, the implant is held in place by the muscle so it doesn't drop in the same way overs would. That said you would never get the very visible roundness with unders as the muscle is over the top of the implant. A pushed tohether cleavage is more easily achieved with overs as with unders the muscvle sort of holds the implant in the same place so its harder to move although with a push up bra I get a great cleavage with unders. I think what I'm trying to say is unders sit higher on your chest coz the muscle stops the implant from going anywhere! Feel free to pm me for pics!
Please feel free to correct me anyone - its just waht I though he would mean!!
Good Luck,
Claire xx

Thanks Claire, that really explained things to me anyway! I was supposed to be having overs but i lost weight and my ps changed me to partial unders just a week before and I was a bit worried as I never really understood the difference and received conflicting info.
But what you just said has totally made sense. Thanks.
Grace - sorry for hijacking your post
(P.S. At 7 days post op the partial unders are looking great too - I'm really pleased)

Re: Placement Questions after consult
The other girls have explained it really well hun. I think with the size implant you are going for you will get the look you want with a good bra and overs. I've had both over and under the muscle. Initially I was under the impression that unders look more natural but now my implants are over it really would take a trained eye to tell they are augmented even with a really good push up bra. Killer cleavage tho
Having said that I think if I'd wanted the fake look my I think my ps would have recommended an uplift as well as implants as now they have dropped I have very little upper pole fullness even with a push up bra. I think the projection makes a difference too.

Re: Placement Questions after consult
Hi hun, I had round high profile overs and they look very natural. But I can get the fake round look very easily with the right bra.
