ive got an infection

hi girlies iv got a dreaded infection on fri as you know i went to get my niple restiches as it wssnt fuseing back together and since sun maybe mon its had a bit of a sweet smell coming from there and i noticed the dressing was sticking to the nipple again which made me think that it wasnt fuseing back together again anyway move the dressing and greyish cream gunk came out so i phoned my nurse no answer so i went to docs and he said it looks infected and smells infected so he took a swab and give me two lots of antibiotics, but hopefull the infection is relativly new as the surgeon didnt see any signs of infection on fri, i really hope my nipple fuses back together this time as it looks like its not going to, im seeing the nurse in cardiff on fri so should have better ideas then. i was told not to shower for a week but now its infected should i clean it, cant get hold of nurse ive got an infection Icon_eek

Aw, sorry to hear this Tutti, I wouldn't touch it until you've checked, and sometimes attempting to clean it could put new bacteria into the wound so best to seek advice first. Hopefully the
antibiotics should help get it sorted xxx

thanks girls i just phoned the clinic and they suggested i clean it with some sterile gauze and sterile water (which thankfully i have here due to my little boys cancer) and wipe the area and then dry it completely witrh sterile gauze, im soooo pi**ed off i just want them to heal, i shouldnt have slagged my boobs off so much in the begining post op they are punishing me now x x

Tutti, you're still gonna have a fab pair of boobies hunni, they're just being a bit stubborn with the healing, that's all, they'll be beautifully healed before you know it ive got an infection 571992

Glad you got the advice you needed about the cleaning, keep it up with the antibiotics and that pesky infection will be gone in no time xxxx

thanks smb i suppose your right just need to sort out this infection i just wanna be able to touch my own boobs (not in a p;ervy way) you know what i mean im to worried to touch em cos of the open wonds and now infections, i feel better now i suppose its just what they call delayed healing thanks guys ive got an infection 184153

Oh hun, I'm sure everything will be fine. It's just going to take a bit longer than you expected, like you said, delayed healing.

Just think of the long term lovely, this is just temporary.

Sorry to hear this hun but it is common with an uplift to have some fluid like that around the stitching, hope it clears up soon x

oh no tutti so sorry to hear this. ive got an infection 948189

yea you most not get the area wet at all needs to be left well alone, try not to touch or anything cuz just adding more bacteria to it. def get into to see your surgeon rather than your nurse as mine just strapped it back up and off i went for a few more weeks, until it obviously spead to far. also my surgeon changed the anti biotics i was on from gp as he said they were not strong enough to kill the bacteria. least your gp has taken a swab and stuff i had nothing like that. really hope you get it sorted and get in with your surgeon as soon as hunny. keep us updated. big hugs xx

Sterile, clean, sterile dry, find out from doc which bacteria (they should have cultured swab and tested which antibiotic reacts to nasty bugs)... jump on it like a elephant if it deteriorates asap hun and sending wishes for healing asap.. oh and can you get packet of gloves to wear when you do it? and chuck gloves away, even if you wipe area once, chuck the gauze and take another/... prob suggesting you suck eggs just worries me with infections.. xxxxx

Sounds like you've caught it early, but it probably feels like a lifetime waiting for it to heal, only 3 sleeps to friday and hopefully nurse will tell you it's healing. Good luck for Friday.

Just make sure you look after yourself in the meatime hun and rest as much as you can - your body will heal itself in time.

Sorry hun,ive just read this post,sorry to hear about the infection,but im sure the antibiotics will kick in really quick and have the infection sorted in no time.Im sure the dr mentioned it but be sure to finish the course as this can effect how they work x
