question about wearing piercings during op? Empty question about wearing piercings during op?

Post by georgieporgie 27th August 2009, 7:36 am

Hey guys!!

I recently got my belly button pierced and I'm worried that if I take it out for the op it will close up Rolling Eyes However I was looking on the net and there are these bioflex plastic belly bars that pregnant women wear as well, on the ad it says they are suitable for operations as they are plastic and not made of metal. Has anyone else wore something to retain piercing during operations?

I haven't had my op yet, but I do wear a plastic belly bar mainly because my tummy post pregnancy is too saggy to hold up a metal one!

If it's any help I bought mine on eBay for 99p!

I wore mine both times. For my re-op they covered it with tape but nothing with my original ba. I'd buy a plastic retainer tho just in case x

I'm sure they just put tape on mine. But like Sally said, it's a good idea to take a plastic retainer incase...every hospital seems to do things differently!

If you ask your nurse or surgeon they should be able to advise on the best course of action to take. Some surgeons will just tape over the bar to prevent infection, some say nothing is acceptable and others will be happy with the plastic bar.

If in doubt, just give them a call!
