Tightness in lefty Empty Tightness in lefty

Post by Jemmy 24th August 2009, 4:45 pm

Boobs are doing really well considering I'm only 4 days post op. My lefty however is so tight and sore to the point that I'm in agony.

I know the pain is normal but it's just the one. Any ideas why it could be so tight and painful? It's on the inside of lefty.

Just thought I should add, I managed to sleep on my left side this morning with a pillow between them. So nice to get some sleep on my side. X

Soo pleased you are feeling good and happy Jemmy!!

Perhaps sleeping on your side could be causing the pain.....sleeping upright is normally advised for a couple of weeks to ease swelling and enable the implants to settle into pockets and muscle, tissue, nerves etc. to knit back without any pressure on your chest.

Perhaps a little Aloe Vera gel to cool and sooth or an ice pack could ease it off a bit. Give You xxx

I only slept on my side this morning for an hr as I was absolutely shattered. Other than that I have been sleeping at an angle and taking my bra off for a little every night.

It's weird as it's only the left implant when it moves towards my cleavage. Like a stabbing pain. Am going for my week check up on Thursday so will ask Mr C then.

It maybe cause you're right handed hun, because you use your lead hand even without thinking, ie to change the tv over etc, the muscle on the left hand side gets worked more.....for some reason if you use your right hand the left hurts more and vice versa?, you will probably find you left boob heals quicker too!

If your left handed god only knows?? lol Hysterical

You'll probably find that it could be because one boob is slightly bigger then the other - this is why my left one is more sore then the other and slightly more swollen xx

Don't worry, its all normal. I had stabbing pains in my boobs. Sometimes it was the left for a few days and then it would change to the right.

You have done very well sleeping on your side though, it took me 2 weeks.

Glad your feeling happy with your boobs, my leftie hurt more than rightie and it dropped and healed quicker than rightie. Dunno why, one just seems hurt/heal more than the other sometimes. Don't worry, them settle in a couple of weeks.

Heya hun, hope you're enjoying your time away Give You

I know it's weird when only one boob is painful - for me it was my right. Hardly any problem with lefty at all. I think shellymm is right, because my right boob has dropped and settled a lot quicker! So perhaps it just means in your case that lefty's just getting on with it and doing what it's supposed to do lol.

Hiya - like the others have said it all sounds normal. I know it can freak you out at times and make you worry, but the best advice I had was to treat them like two different ops and try not not compare them for the first few weeks. Definitely mention it to your ps but all sorts of stabbing and burning pains were normal for me at first. Are you keeping on top of your meds? I took mine like clockwork for the first few days, whether I felt like I needed them or not, and that really helped.

I was given paracetamol and diclofenac to tale but had to stop taking the diclofenac as they gave me a really upset stomach. Everything I ate just went straight through me. So am just taking paracetamol now.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow

you're fine sweety- i was like that for weeks and now i occasionally get a tightness in my lefty too... Again from what Shellymm said, may be because we're right handed.

Just rest up, and please sleep upright if u can, so much better for ure boobies to heal xxx

I had exactly the same problem with my left boob...I convinced myself something was seriously wrong or that they had not made the incision big enough...the pain lasted for about 2 weeks then one weekend it just went!!! It was unbearable at times but it will ease I promise...I rang the help line and they said it is simple because one side can be harder to insert than the other and to treat each boob as seperate operation as in dont compare. Hope it gets better soon honey x x x Give You
