Dissolvable stitches
Did anyone have these? How did you find them? Did they take ages to dissolve or did they go quite quickly?
I've been told I'll be having 3 layers of dissolvable ones, no chance of them falling out

Jemmy you are looking for a hurdle me thinks
Mine I never seen...just dissolved and no scabs, bumps, lumps etc. I had my dressings removed I think 10 days after, and just cleaned and they were ready for the vit. e and micropore tape and blissfull shower.
Deep breaths...relax....think happy thoughts..... xxxxx

no no just curious really. Hadn't thought much about the stitches and I know I'm a bugger for picking at things. I would say I'm quite a fast healer so fingers crossed I'll be just like you Mia.
Bet the first proper shower is heaven. Not liking the thought of shallow bath and wet wipes for the old arm pits. It's a small price to pay. Think I had better buy my oh a peg lol

Peg would be very helpfull
If you heal well and your surgeon is good...you should be fine!! I am a smoker  and I am pleased. However, if they do need removed Jemmy they dont hurt and they are minute and will have broken up and do just about fallout. Something you could mention to surgeon before to ensure he does his bestest needlework!!! He should have explained to you how he does it and the length of the incision too

Re: Dissolvable stitches
i've also had these - like mia i've never seen them but when I saw my PS on monday he said that the incisions had healed really good so I now have no dressings or tape...just the incisions and e45 cream!
did anyone else get slightly freaked out by the sight/thought of their incisions more so than the op itself? i've only seen mine the once and they made me feel all funny !! altho i'd rather have disolvable stitches than proper ones, they don't feel too nice!

He did tell me that the incision would be 5cm long, but depends on how well the implant goes in. He did also say that he will stitch me up in 3 separate layers working from inside out (obv!!)
He's really good, my friend is thrilled with how everything turned out, her scars are so neat and tidy I have 100% faith in him

Re: Dissolvable stitches
I had them too and didnt have any problems and not sure when they dissolved because I didnt have any sticking out or anything x
Re: Dissolvable stitches
i think most peple have the disolving stitches hunny, tbh i prefer them as it's just the little knots that need snipping after a week or however long for your particular surgeon.
non disolving stitches would need removing and i think this would be more uncomfortable, i have never had any problems with my stitches at all and ive had a few other ops besides the b/a's.
don't worry yourself hun.
