Internal dissolvable stitches
Hi girls, just a quick question. How long is it generally before my dissolvable stitches dessolve in my boobies? I'm 8 weeks PO on Sunday. Xxxx

Found this article HERE , it can apparently take several months for stitches to dissolve. XXX

Re: Internal dissolvable stitches
Thanks thanks mirren. I will ask my surgeon what type he used. My boobs are still a little sore as in the inside so I know they haven't healed yet. 8 weeks seems like such a long time when your waiting for them to heal and change, when actually it's not that long when you consider it's two lots of surgery. When I feel like there are no longer things going on with my boobs I will feel a lot better. I'm still numb on the bottom of my boobs . Xxx

My surgeon told me it's around 3 months for them to fully dissolve internally. X

Re: Internal dissolvable stitches
They can sometimes edge their way to the skin surface too, so if you spot any stitches coming through the skin don't panic. They're called 'spitting stitches' and you just need to book an appointment to have them snipped at the clinic if the stitch shows no sign of it coming out on its own. Maybe give it a couple of days.
It does need to come out though if you see one and remember if the stitch is coming through its created an opening in your scar do don't use anything perfumed on the scar if you're able to massage them at all.
The snipping of the stitch doesn't hurt at all, you don't feel a thing and you're in and out of the clinic in minutes. Xx

Re: Internal dissolvable stitches
Oh I didn't realise we had to get them snipped :/ I had one at the end sticking out since about day 2, it finally fell off only 2 days ago (of rubbed off against bra band that keeps raising!)

Re: Internal dissolvable stitches
That's fine boobies2be. It just generally best to get them snipped as they come up just to help avoid infection really because very often spitting stitches can be quite troublesome. As I said though, give it a few days to see if they'll come out on their own, but if not...snip-snip!
Oh and never do it yourself ladies because again the risk of infection. Xx
