Dissolvable stitches or removable ones?
Hi ladies,
I've just been advised that I have the choice of having either dissolvable stitches or ones that need removing after two weeks.
I wasn't expecting to have this choice and don't have any strong preference either way - does anyone know if either is quicker to heal / makes a better scar etc?
Thanks x

Ive had ones to remove, and my surgeon told me that it makes a nicer scar afterwards. I havent done any further research than that though! Having some of mine out on Monday so can tell u if it hurts etc!

I had dissolvable stitches and I think they dissolved before my wounds had knitted together properly so my wounds took ages to heal and the scars are quite wide. I'm not saying this is def what happened or that it happens a lot but just my case! Xx

Hmm thank you. He seemed to imply that I'll only have a 2-week checkup if I'm having the stitches removed, so I think I might go with those... But will wait for Elizabeth's feedback on how much it hurts first!!x

I had removable stitches and was fine having them out, not painful. If you have disolvable ones you will still need check ups to have them trimmed.
