having a bath
Girls it's been 3 weeks this Thursday since I got my new boobs and I'm really really missing having a bath! When will this be ok to even have just a shallow bath so my new boobs aren't getting soaked?

Re: having a bath
You can have a bath as long as the waterline is under your boobs and scar, but no long hot soaks until you have the all clear to do so, normally between 6-12wks. T reason for this is that although the scars may look nice and healed, there can still be microscopic holes in them. Water is a breeding ground for bacteria, so bathing could invite an infection in. Compared to a lifetime of awesome boobs, a couple months without a bath is nothing. Best to be on the safe side and wait

I had a very shallow one and wore my surgical bra while in the bath to be on the safe side too haha! I am a big bath lover - just be careful!

Oh gosh, didn't plan for this. Was hoping to have shallow baths for my first few days rather than showers so I don't have to lift my arms so much. What do most PS's recommend washing-wise? Any tips?

Re: having a bath
Most of the time you can't get them wet for the first week. Literally no showers, sometimes two weeks. You can sit in a bath to your waist and have a squaddy wash in the sink, or wet wipes. But no showers until you're allowed.

I couldn't get them wet for 2 weeks and even then no soaking, or swimming. I had baths but just up to lower waist. I wet wiped upper half. Xxx

Re: having a bath
I've been told that as the dressings are splash proof I can have a shower with my back to the water from the start - but mustn't have water spraying directly onto my front! They are all so different aren't they - u have to go by what your own surgeon tells you! X

Yes always follow your own surgeons advice as depends on the methods they use to stitch you up and what dressings they give you. I was lucky and could shower from day 2. I think if you have internal dissolvable stiches and glue that's generally the guidance but always check!

Re: having a bath
I had a bath last night but just up to my waist, and I've gone to the hairdresser today to have my hair washed lol. I was told a week with no shower so I'm hoping to get the all clear on Monday after I've seen a nurse.

Re: having a bath
Since having my boobs done in May i still am neglecting my bath for soaking reasons. Althoooough two weeks ago i went to a spa day with a friend and got in the Jacuzzi for about 20 mins and im okay.
I would honestly recommend waiting until you get the 'all clear' from your surgeon xx
