Having a bath
So I had my op 15 days ago and been told I can have showers again. The thing is I really want a bath, I mean a proper soak. Would this be ok with the scars not properly healed? I guess I can't have scented foam etc. but I've also got big blisters from the plasters so worried about them too.

Re: Having a bath
My nurse said I could have a bath also just o make sure I dry them properly...I don't have scented body wash I always use simple..
Personally I maybe have your soak before you wash so the water is cleaner but maybe the more experienced ladies will come along Hun...
I've had a bath but didn't spend too long in it..
Enjoy huney xx

No, you won't be allowed a bath until at least 12 weeks post op, due to risk of infection x

Re: Having a bath
No, not until 12wk like princessx says. The reason being that any water carries an amount of bacteria in it, and until those bad boys are properly closed and healed, they are at risk of infection. Showering is fine, you should soap over the tops and just let the water run over them. But soaking them is a big no no.
To make sure they're dry properly, give them a quick blow dry on cool heat to ensure nothing wriggles it's way in.

Re: Having a bath
Thanks ladies. I had a shower in the end and sat without a bra on for 30 mins to make sure they were fully dry which is what my nurse said to do. Thanks for the hair dryer tip Charlii, would never have thought to do that! X

Re: Having a bath
My surgeon said I'd be fine to go swimming at 4 weeks....now I'm confused! I'll double check with him!

It's going to be different surgeon to surgeon. General clinic advise is about 4-6wk before creams and such, then 8-12 for swimming, soaking. If your ever at all unsure what are the right instructions for you, call and ask your surgeon.
For me, I was allowed to moisturise and massage the scars from week 4, but no swimming or soaking til 12.

Re: Having a bath
I was around the 12 weeks marks for swimming my surgeon just didnt want to take the risk of infection which can lead to implants comong out for 6 months so waiting the 12 weeks doesnt seem so bad when you think of it that way
Its hard not getting used to all these things that your arent able to do isnt it xx
