Restricted/constricted breasts?
Hello ladies.
I had a chat with a surgeon today at a cosmetic surgery open event at my local private hospital - just a 10 minute appointment not a full consultation.
He had a quick look and said I had restricted breasts which makes the procedure less straightforward. I've googled and don't know if he meant constricted instead, as I don't get any results searching for restricted.
He said a BA for me was basically a no brainier and that it would be hugely beneficial. He showed me a before and after of a patient with similar boobs to mine and the result was great.
He's the first surgeon I've seen so far. He measured me and asked me to buy a 34D sports bra to do the rice test - he's suggested 320cc would be about right but can go bigger or smaller as I feel comfortable with.
I liked him and he seemed knowledgable so I'm going to try and book a consultation with him. I'm also having a consultation with a MYA surgeon in a week so it'll be interesting to see what they say regarding the procedure.
Has anyone else had implants with these type of breasts? The surgeon said he's had to do quite a few corrections where the surgeon has just stuck in the implants and they've been too full up top. I definitely don't want to be in that position!

Re: Restricted/constricted breasts?
It sounds like he's describing a mildly tuberous breast, you'll get more results with that search. I think it's where the fibrous tissues are too tight in the breast. It means a ba isn't so straight forward, as they'd have to dissect some of the tissue in order to make the implant fit properly. In this case, I would strongly suggest avoiding commercial clinics, and seeing a specialist BAAPS surgeon who would be more skilled at this type of operation. Definitely get a few consultations so you get an idea of exactly what you need

Thanks for the reply.
I'm still going to attend the consultation with MYA out of curiosity - I want to see what their surgeon thinks. She isn't BAAPS registered though so it puts me off right away.
I've emailed the two private hospitals closest to me in order to try and set up consultations with the surgeons I like the sound of. I'm really worried they'll have huge waiting lists though, and with being on maternity leave I really want my BA done before I return to work. All the surgeons I've enquired about are with BAAPS. I guess I'll have to wait and see what responses I get!

Re: Restricted/constricted breasts?
I had tuberous breasts which required a lift, nipple reduction, lowering of crease significantly, dissection of my original crease and scoring of my own breast tissue to fan over the implant. It's not straightforward and re op rates are much higher. You need a surgeon with lots of experience in doing reconstructive surgery in the nhs, and aftercare is paramount. Have you looked in to Mr staiano in Birmingham, heard lots of good things about him on here, and I bekieve James mcdiarmed operates out of Cheltenham too and seems to get good feedback xx

The surgeon I'd seen when I made this post has many years of experience doing reconstructions on the NHS and seemed confident in being able to do the BA for me. He didn't say I needed a lift or anything (although it was just a chat and not a full consultation) so I hope that remains the case.
I'm actually seeing James McDiarmid on Tuesday as I've also read very good things about him. I've not heard of the other surgeon you mentioned so I'll bear him in mind if need be :)
Are you pleased with your results? Did the shape of your breasts change? The MYA surgeon I saw said the implant would just emphasise the existing shape, whereas I was hoping for a more rounded result.

Hi, although I didn't have tuberous breasts, I can fully vouch for Jonathan Staiano. He is in Birmingham and does a free 15 minute mini consult. Also, totally echo what the others have said about baaps registered surgeons as your op is more specialist by the sounds of it. Good luck in your searching tho!

Re: Restricted/constricted breasts?
Sorry for late reply, I've been away. Mine were probably a lot worse than yours, I'm also older and have had 3 children so that is partly why I needed a lift, it's not a must. Out of 7 surgeons I saw only 2 said a lift was needed, but I decided long term that would give me the best results.
I'm delighted with the results, I've had a lot of problems and a number of re ops but finally I'm happy. My more constricted breast still needs to drop and round out at the bottom but even if this was my final result id be happy. You are welcome to see my pics, don't be put off, my journey has been unusually complicated xx

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] thanks for getting back to me.
James has recommended a lift for me as well to move my nipples higher and give more space beneath for implants. He said he could cheat and put in a teardrop implant instead but doesn't think I'd be happy with the end result.
I thought he really sounded like he knew his stuff and wanted to do what's best for me to give the most aesthetically pleasing outcome. It means I can't have implants the size I was expecting but I can live with that!
I would love to see your photos if that's ok. I think your starting point is very similar to mine and I'm quite sure I'd like to go ahead with James.
