Spire letter demanding £271 extra charges!? Help!
Anyone had BA with spire ?
I'm 1 week PO & have received a letter stating I owe them an additional £271.50 for MRSA screening prior to surgery!!?
What!? I was under the impression that all pre op tests was included in the price?
I rang & they said I owe it?!
I'm waiting to speak with the secretary to see what she says though as I wasn't told about this .
Anyone else had this with spire???

I went with Spire and didn't have an additional charge...What was your MRSA screening? Because all they did for me to check that was take a sample from my nose and throat!! It was all over in about 10 seconds!
Sorry to hear that, deff follow it up and stay firm! xx

That's all they did for me too, 3 swabs done in 5 mins & I've now got this letter saying they want £271 for the swabs!!??
I'm hoping the secretary can help :-/
I'm sure spire hospitals can't charge people differently ??

Did they give you a choice for the MRSA test? If not, and they didn't state that an additional charge will be incurred, that's ridiculous. I would speak with your surgeons secretary, and send the clinic an email stating that you were not made aware of any additional charges at the time of the test, nor were you given the option to not have the test done if you did not want to pay the additional.
I'm sure we had someone go through this before, it may have even been [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]...i say hold out, it could well be an admin error, and the person you spoke to is just a desk jockey, so wouldn't know any different.
