Cigs and alcohol
hi
I am now just under 3 weeks to go and now trying to pack the cigs up . I know I am not allowed any drink either or so they recommend you don't.
Who else has had to give them both up ?. I know it's for our own good but by its going be hard.
X:help:

Re: Cigs and alcohol
I gave up real cigs two years ago but still use an e-cig. I told both my surgeon and anethatist this and they were fine with it, didn't tell me to stop using it.
I had my last alcoholic drink a week before my op and the first one post op was at ten days, no longer on any meds.
Good luck Hun, just think of all the money you'll save that you can spend on new bras X

Re: Cigs and alcohol
The e-cigs really do work, I was a 20 a day, full tar, long term smoker. I was really dubious to start with, tried patches, etc with no results I've never looked back with the e-cig although I do appreciate I'm still ingesting nicotine at least I'm not taking in all the other crap
And it's a lot cheaper, even if you need the odd puff on it to get you through it's gotta be better than the real thing

Re: Cigs and alcohol
Your surgeon will be able to give you guide lines of when to stop, with smoking it benefits the longer you stop before and with alcohol it's nomally 2 weeks before 2 weeks after.
They both thin your blood and smoking could hinder your healing speed.
we are all here to support you if you need to vent. I'm sorry I don't personally know how you feel as I have never smoked.
Our amazing mod Charlii use to smoke and is now a non smoker xx

I was a 20 a day smoker but had to stop for my op. No nicotine at all. It can hinder your healing, up the chance of cc. And thins your blood, there is also a greeter risk of infection. I do have the odd one now though xx

Giving up cigs is one of the hardest things you will do. It's so hard because you enjoy it. But think of all the nice bras you could buy . It's certainly not easy . Full respect to you if you succeed xxx

Re: Cigs and alcohol
Well done Hun for stopping. I don't smoke but hubby does and loves it, there's not chance he's stopping anytime soon and now I've learnt to just get off his case about it!
I am partial to a vino or 2 though and haven't been told to stop, only what these lovely ladies have said. My post op is a week before so will see what they say then. I've not drunk for a couple of weeks as don't think I would cope on crutches but we might go away on Wednesday so will definitely have a few sherbets then! Xxx
