How long does the pain last?
Hey all,
I know it's very subjective and everyone is different but how long were you in pain for after the op and then still feeling uncomfortable? Also did you have overs or unders? How long after did you feel normal again?! Xx

Re: How long does the pain last?
I had unders, and I haven't been in any pain at all.
Between Tuesday and Sunday I took 2 paracetamol every 4 hours throughout the day (just in case it was making a difference)
I drove on Tuesday (Day 8) no pain.
I just drove 150 miles to my parents house - felt nothing.
I can feel that they are hard and feel as if they are pressed against me.. So maybe slight discomfort doing certain movements but that's it.
I can stretch up but I can't lift any weight high, for example I can touch the plates on the top shelf but I don't have the strength to actually bring it Down at that height, I can't open a jar / lid if really right. I couldn't open the door to work until yesterday (it's really heavy!) :)
Went back to work on day 6 (desk job)
I don't have any children or dependants so for the first 5 days I literally did sit on my bum and got waited on hand and foot, I do wonder if that made a difference.
Washed my own hair in the shower day 6.
I also didn't get a lot of swelling and I wonder if that's where the pain comes from. That will probably be done to you as a person though. I did take arnica tablets 5 days before 5 days after xx

Re: How long does the pain last?
I would prepare for a week of pain/ache and 3 weeks of uncomfortableness but we're all different! i found it wasn't painful when resting, only when trying to use upper body. And it's not pain, just discomfort really. You'll be fine! Especially if you plan to do very little during the first week!

Re: How long does the pain last?
Remember, the healing happening on the inside can be up to a year, and nerves can take up to two years to heal, so there may be some aches and soreness and electric shocks well after you think you're 'done'. But generally people tend to be back to 'normal' within a couple months. The worst of it is over in the first couple weeks.

Re: How long does the pain last?
I had unders, couldn't do much that involved using pec muscles for about a week as it hurt to. After the 1st week had passed I felt so much better & learnt to adjust doing things whilst I was healing ie pushing heavy doors open using my butt etc.XXX

Re: How long does the pain last?
Aah thank you all again for replying. I hope my recovery is like Sarahlous who seems to have had a brilliant experience! Did any of you take arnica apart from Sarahlou? I took it after childbirth every time and although I don't know how bad it would have been if I didn't, I wasn't that uncomfortable at all. I'll ask my surgeon if I can take it as I believe some say no? Xx

You'll be fine lovely.
I think that's the hardest thing, you wouldn't know how bad it would have been without. I haven't used it previously in the tablet form, only the cream which I've used on bruises and I do think a bruise disappears quicker with it x
