How long til no pain?
Hi girls.. I'm only on day 4 so I expect to still be needing to take painkillers for a while yet but can you tell me when I should expect to no longer experience pain or need painkillers?
I had 445CC unders and currently taking cocodomol 3-4 times a day. Pain is bearable in the daytime but awful in the morning.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: How long til no pain?
I have just started only taking painkillers at night and I had my surgery 6 days ago.
Mornings are still a bit ouchy the first time I move but once I'm up I'm fine x

Re: How long til no pain?
It seems we all differ with experience on pain. I was off painkillers after day 3. I am still sore most mornings and today for some reason Im on the sore side. A good sports bra will help loads with the pain. If its too tight them it will cause you discomfort. Just noted you had unders which will be more sore for a while. Xx

Re: How long til no pain?
yep, I agree with the others - it can take a bit of time and be different from person to person - well worth it in the end tho sweet.
smallblue - its DEFINATELy right what you said about the sports bra - if its too tight it can cause more probs - I actually thought for a bit that if it was on the tight side it would be giving me more support but I was wrong - I changed to a bigger cup size (well bigger by two -ooops) a while back and its much better now.
whoknew - unders are often more painful - thats what Ive read on here so dont worry its just part of the healing process. Are you ok taking the meds? Gave me a terrible stomach so I had to pack the ibuprofen in in the end and just stick to paracetamol and ice packs and hot water bottles. Oh and while Im rambling on the morning thing gets better, one day you'll wake up - get up as normal and be dressed etc before you realise the pain has gone - just takes a bit of time

Re: How long til no pain?
I had overs so the pain is different. I fully stopped taking my painkillers at day 5 but occasionally had sharp pains in my boobs but nothing i couldnt bare. The pain was always worse in the mornings for me too so i put ice on them and it worked wonders!! You should try it and see if it helps at all :)
It does get better and better each day.. x

Re: How long til no pain?
Hey girls just wanted to say thanks for your replies and also give an update.. Its 1 week since boobie day and I've not taken any painkillers at all today, also first time I've not needed painkillers to get me out of bed due to the horrid morning boob.. So for anyone else who may read this, although in the first few days it can seem like you will never be right again, bear with it because after just 1 week I feel back to human again <3 xxx

Re: How long til no pain?
For me I found I didn't need pain killers by about day 5, I continued using ice packs until the 2nd week.
By half way into the 3rd week I felt like I hadn't even had an op! I have to make sure I don't do any heavy lifting or stretching because I think I'd feel it then... But now they just feel like a part of me... With the odd sensation here and there :) x

Re: How long til no pain?
If you feel the pain is bearable during the daytime hun, then stop taking your pain killers through this time, you'll find after stopping them you start to feel more like your old self too as they tend to make you feel sleepy and sickly.
The morning pain is called 'morning boob' and I agree, it's not nice and very uncomfortable sweetheart
Try just taking your pain killers when you go to bed and first thing in the morning. Ice packs layed over the tops of your breasts are an absolute godsend and you'll get so much relief from using those. If you don't have ice packs, a bag of frozen peas/rice/corn will do sweetie.

Re: How long til no pain?
Thanks Cookie & Alice I Woke up at 4am this morning with everything hurting and I couldn't move! Then eventually when I did manage to sit up, I got stuck with my pillows all over the place. It was awful!! I took 2 painkillers and luckily for me, my lovely hubby sorted me out with the ice (for the boobs) and water bottle (for the back) and I got back to sleep only for more agony around 7am!
I did expect all this, but didn't realise how bad it would be at night/morning. xx

Re: How long til no pain?
It'll get better SunshineLady , you're just 2 days out from having major surgery sweetheart, you have to give your body time to heal
As soon as you feel able, getting up and walking about will help speed your recovery so much hun. Just for a short time at first and build up to going out for a nice long walk.
Plenty of fluids help too. Getting that GA flushed outta you will also make you feel so much better, along with stopping your pain kilers when you feel you can. xx

Re: How long til no pain?
Aw hun, it's usually the first few days that are the worst and as kay said you will start to feel a little better each day. Take the pain killers when you need them, or even take them constantly for the first 5 days or so, setting an alarm when you can take each lot so that they never wear off (ie every 4 hourss or so) it might lessen the intensity and help you hun.
Re: How long til no pain?
I reduced them down after day six, so was on just two co-codamol a day for days seven and eight, and have been med free since then.
Morning boob is very nearly all gone and the side effects of the mess have nearly all gone - if it wasn't for the side effects then I may have stayed on them a little longer but constipation and dryness 'down there' is just no fun.

Re: How long til no pain?
aww bless ya yeh thats why I stopped taking them, its not the best is it not only feeling off due to the op & then having the side effects on top of that I found I started to feel myself & alot less pain around week 2, I did how ever pull my stitches as I felt alot better so over done it whithcset me back by 3 days so just make sure when you start to feel better you dont over do it like I did hun......
as for morning boob well what can I say...... that was just terrible for me, the swelling I had was like my milk coming in after having the little ones but alot worse, I was like you & could hardly move in the morning for the 1st week but I found once up & about it soon wore off...
Im glad your starting to feel better with it hun xx
