Tuberous breasts with normal ba???
Hey everyone having my ba in couple weeks had consultation last weds and was told I had tuberous breasts which I new anyway he was going through different techniques you can use and he seems to think I'd get away with normal ba under muscle if he scored my breast tissue to help shape it which I was pleased about price wise but concerned as all the research I hav done ppl have had uplifts aswell anyone had correction with normal ba? ️Xx

Hello!
Have you had any second opinions? Always try to see at least 3 surgeons :)
I'm not speaking from experience. But I wonder if your boobs are small that's why an uplift wouldn't be needed.
Xx

Yh they are very small 34 a don't even fill that out lol!! He said what he Wud probably do if he was in the middle of surgery and thinks he would get a better result with doing a lift aswell he would do it if I was happy for him to do that! He just thinks there's no point doing something I might no need which does make sense xx

Re: Tuberous breasts with normal ba???
Did you have a consultation with a surgeon or the nurse? Only surgeons should say if you have tuberous breasts. If it's only mildly tuberous it shouldn't be that over complicated and I think a normal ba would be fine. One of the mods will hopefully be along soon to confirm that. But you should really have at least 2 consultations xx

Sorry just seen your recent post. Will the price be the same if he decides to do a lift while you are asleep? X

Re: Tuberous breasts with normal ba???
I'm surprised that as a BAAPS surgeon he said that.
I would have thought he would be able to look, and from experience know if you need a lift before he starts the operation.
I would seriously get a second opinion lovely! xx

I'm afraid I agree with Sarahlou. It doesn't sound right that your surgeon doesn't know from looking weather you need an uplift or not. You need to walk away from a consultation knowing exactly what you are having. xxxxx

Re: Tuberous breasts with normal ba???
He said if I wanted him to make a decision on the table I'd pay the higher price then if he just does normal ba They will refund me the money difference! Apparently it's alot more difficult with tuberous breasts and its hard for them to tell how it's going to go but as im so young would prefer not to do anything to the nipple incase it effects them atall! I think ur right tho I shud have a second opinion xx

Yeah.. Your the same age as me :)
I don't like that idea of paying and getting a refund either.
As I mentioned I don't have any experience of tuberous but a second opinion may put you at ease.
Are you seeing him through Nuffield? Sorry I did look up the surgeon lol xx

Agree with the ladies here....definitely worth getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion. The surgeon should know what's required in advance, not charge you higher and decide on the day. x

Re: Tuberous breasts with normal ba???
I'm playing devils advocate but actually I think what he's saying makes sense! He's assessed your mild tuberous boobs and thinks you can get away without a lift, but doesn't actually know how they'll look until he's scored you, placed an implant and seen how it looks. If he's happy with the look, he'll close you up. If he's not, nothing lost, he'll do a lift. Better this way then just jump in and do a lift, which may not be necessary. I think it shows he's given it due thought.
That all being said, I would also always recommend getting opinions from 3 surgeons. And I'm also not speaking from experience! Multiple opinions will be reassuring for you.
In a similar vain, my surgeon didn't decide on size or placement until i was asleep. 2 surgeons said unders, he if could get away with overs he said he'd try as he felt I'd be happier with the results long term. But he also said I was borderline and once I was opened he may decide to do unders. Seemed risky but I trusted him and I knew he wasn't saying it as he didn't do unders as he did a friend or a friend unders.
Depends on how comfortable you feel with his approach!

Definately have a few consultations to explore what options are available to you. May be that you will still have op with this surgeon but it is good to have a few opinions .
You may also find it helpful to read some other peoples experiences, if you type tuberous into the search box top right on here ,it brings up lots of posts on the subject.

Re: Tuberous breasts with normal ba???
Mirren's idea of searching the forum is great, there are loads of threads and it seems lots of ladies don't need a lift with it but obviously it all depends on the lady! Good luck with the research! The only other idea, if you feel uncomfortable about the money side of things, is to say you'd be happier paying for a normal BA, and then you'd pay more should the lift become necessary. Seems fair given that on balance he thinks it won't need to take place. And you never know he may let you off if it doesn't end up taking him much more time or something!
