a rough idea of time frame?
Hi everyone, not sure if it's possible to find out but I was wondering if there was a minimum time frame between first consultation and the actual op? I have my first consult next Tues at spire Edinburgh. Because I have kids I would like the surgery during school holidays. So I don't have long until Easter but quite a wait until the summer time! Is the easter hols just wishful thinking?! X

Re: a rough idea of time frame?
Entirely depends on the surgeons availability. You should give yourself some time to mull it over, and ensure that you've seen at least 3surgeons for different opinions, but as soon as you're confident and happy, it'll just be when your choice of surgeon can fit you in.

Some surgeons require 2 consultations with them anyway, but just make sure you don't rush into it. It's a big thing to think about. Make sure you do your research xxxxx

I had a very specific date in mind for my op....when I made my appts for my consultations I checked to see if the date was an option, should I decide to go ahead. The surgeons secretsrty will let you know his availability.
Agree with the others though, make sure you give yourself time to mull it over!!

Re: a rough idea of time frame?
I had my consultation on 18th Dec and was booked in for the 19th Jan. I had mine done with Spire.
But it's all down to what they have got free I guess! I think some of the commercial companies get people booked in after 2weeks after. But that does not give anyone a real chance for it to sink in and really make sure they're happy I think!!
Good luck hun!

Re: a rough idea of time frame?
Thanks very much for replies everyone, I'm actually very nervous but excited at the same time. I've waited years for this so a few extra months shouldn't hurt too much I guess! I have this particular hospital in mind as my mum had all her surgery there so feel hopeful it will meet my expectations, there are a good few that specialise in breastfeeding surgery so I could book another easily x

Re: a rough idea of time frame?
My op was at a Spire hospital, I had a specific date in mind when I booked my consultation, surgeons secretary penciled in my op date prior to consultation so should I have wished to proceed after consultation date was already booked & if I didn't want to go ahead she said she would just simply remove my name from surgeons diary for that date, maybe something for you to ask about.
I had consultation with surgeon & was happy to proceed with op ,which I had 2 weeks later.

Re: a rough idea of time frame?
I just wanted mine done ASAP after the consultation! I was gutted I was told I had to wait nearly 8 weeks for her nest available slot!!
Hoping it'll fly by. My problem is I get more nervous the longer I have to wait which is why I just wanted to get it l done and dusted!
In agreement with the ladies, it's always entirely dependable on your surgeon so fingers crossed for you! Xxx

Re: a rough idea of time frame?
Thank you, yes I become more nervous the longer I need to wait too, so if it could be done quickly providing I'm happy I'd be over the moon! Ideally I'd like two full weeks to be at home at not go anywhere but I guess you never know how you will feel. My c section took ages to get over so I'm hoping it's not as bad as that! X
