Consultation done Mrs Kat- My experience
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to quickly share my experiences from my consultation with Mrs Kat in Birmingham yesterday.
The appointment was at 5:30 in the evening and the clinic definitely had an air of 'closing time' to it, so for anyone considering this clinic I would definitely try and get a earlier appointment!
I was called in bang on time at 5:30 and shown to a seat in Mrs Kats office. She really was a lovely lady. Very calm, sensible and professional sounding but had an air of warmth and humour about her which was lovely. After some questions as to why I wanted the BA, the top was whipped off and she spent a good 20 minutes measuring me. Everything and anything was taken into consideration, and she even got the pen out to make a few markings. I then had my photo's taken and told to get dressed.
Once the top was back on, she did some calculating and worked out the size range that would suit me best based on my measurements and desired look I wanted to achieve.
Mrs Kat then showed me the implants, and recommend teardrop for the natural look I was trying to achieve. She then showed me the 'Furry Brazilian' implant, and discussed how she'd used them since 2010 and really champions them. Her main reason being the reduced risk of CC and rotation. Nothing more was said about them afterwards (I've since had a little panic about the risk of cancer with these implants...!)
She then took me through the risks going into a fair amount of detail. In particular, she explained what CC is by wrapping the implant in this red scarf, squeezing it tight (so it bulged) as a visual representation. This really freaked me out, and I don't think I'll ever forget that bulging red scarf!!
After answering all my questions (she didn't even flinch when I got my checklist out!) she said she would type up all my notes from the consultation and either email me or send me a letter so I had it all on record. I did ask to see some before and after pictures, but she was very reluctant - explaining every patient is so different she wouldn't want to give me the wrong idea of how mine would look. Overall, really liked her and connected with her. Particulary when she recommend the Spire hospitals over the BMI (she operates at all three) as the aftercare policy is better. Got to admire her honesty!
I was then showed into a room with the nurse Natasha to try on sizes. By this point it was 6:15, and Natasha clearly was very tired and probably ready to go home! I was told this was the 'fun and exciting' part of the consultation but I felt more like I was talking to myself rather than having a discussion with the nurse. She gave me the 'medium size' to try which was what Mrs Kat had recommened, which I instantly felt far too big (I think they were 310 cc). I then tried the smaller (275cc) and felt a lot more comfortable. For what should of been a really exciting moment for me, I felt quite alone and unsure as Natasha stood there silently or answering in very much 'computer says no' tones!!
After trying on, Natasha took me through some more details and gave me a big information pack.
On the train home I was exhausted (I had traveled there and back from London) and completely overwhelmed. I spoke to my mum (who had hers done years ago) and she said 275cc is quite a small implant, it'll last 10-15 years and my body is likely to change. She also said to take into account the 275cc was sat on top of my existing 32B boobs which would make them a touch bigger in the fitting. She said to call Natasha and maybe discuss the 300cc instead. Be interested to hear what your thoughts are on this ladies?
Another slight worry I'm having is timing. My bf thinks he can only get time off in June (and not July). The date I have in mind which I discussed at the consultation is 8th April, meaning I'd still be in a sports bra by June (its to be worn day and night for 3 months!!). Now he's gone a bit funny with me, asking why I cant just wait. I dont think he understands the whole reason I want them is to feel BETTER in a bikini!!
Be great to hear what your thoughts are...xxx

Re: Consultation done Mrs Kat- My experience
Glad you felt comfortable with your surgeon, and that you felt comfortable enough to whip out your checklist and get it all out there in the open :-)
Shame she was so reluctant to show you before and after pictures, I'd personally want to see her work before and after, my surgeon was keen on showing me different sizes and shapes (round/anatomicals) that he had done and I think this was so we were both singing from the same hymn sheet so to speak ! And also it gave me even more confidence in him as I had seen his actual work,
If you felt the 310cc was too large then go with your gut don't be fooled or swayed into picking a larger size just because someone/anyone thinks to a small implant, you've got to carry these things around remember !! And yes do remember you've got ore existing breast tissue to go with the implant size,
Sorry that you didn't feel listened to with regards to the sizing assistant ! Hopefully your second appointment will be better as you say maybe trying to get an earlier appointment next time would be better ?
Very excited for u chicken xxx

Thanks [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for your kind reply.
Yes it was a bit odd with the before and afters, although when I sat down with the nurse I insisted and she showed me a couple which all looked great.
Yes 310 definitely felt big on me,I think it was also the initial shock of seeing BOOBS! It was bizzare looking in the mirror and seeing something you've never had before! The smaller ones felt alot better.
Do you think then, I should aim for slightly over 275cc (so maybe 290?) to make up for the fact the sizer was over my actual breast so in reality it will be a little smaller?
xxxxx

Re: Consultation done Mrs Kat- My experience
Just to confirm, she has recommended me
Furry Brazillian - Silimed Natural - 275MD (which is basically 275cc)
Info on these implants for anyone interested can be found here http://www.simplybreastimplants.com/breast_implant_sizes/furry_brazilian_natural_moderate.html
After looking at this link, I was going to suggest a 300cc to compare but it looks like the next one up is quite a big jump at 315cc! And it was the 315 that I felt were far too big for me.
Hmmm! xxxx
