Can feel one implant 'moving' help please Empty Can feel one implant 'moving' help please

Post by SJM 16th January 2015, 6:43 am

Hi,

I'm 3 weeks post op. My left implant seems fine, I don't feel anything in it etc but my right implant, whenever I reach for something, and sometimes when I'm picking things up even something light I can feel it 'moving' or wobblying/twitching, I'm not entirely sure how to describe it, if I jump up to quick or come down the stairs too quick it's like the right one bounces whilst the left stays put, it's underneath the breast near the incision but to look in the mirror I'm pretty sure they still look in place...

Can anyone help tell me what it may be or whether I should check with a nurse? It might be new boobie sensations I don't know!

Thanks :)

Let me put your mind at rest it's completely normal x i had this too after my first op. It's not the implant you feel move it's most likely trapped fluids or air bubbles or something. When you lift you arm slightly can you feel it almost here it like a squelch? It goes after a few weeks x

Hi,
You can get lots of strange feelings with boobs early post op with swelling going down & nerves etc healing these can be a normal part of the healing process.
However if you're feeling actual movement of the implant inside the breast may be likely due to the implant not yet having adhered to the breast pocket.
To this the breast needs 'stability' so if you're wearing cheaper sportsbras, or there's a possibility the one you're wearing isn't a good fit do ensure your boobs are getting the very best support by wearing a good quality high impact sportsbra and restrict movement of your arms. If you don't 'need' to stretch or lift things (you shouldn't be lifting heavy things anyway) then don't.
The less moment you use of your upper body and the better the support, the implant than has the best opportunity to adhere to the pocket.
As with anything ,if you are overly concerned that what you are describing isn't just normal sensations there's no harm in giving your surgeon/clinic a call , even if it's just for reassurance.

Totally agree with Mirren. It sounds like the implant has yet to adhere to the pocket, so you'll feel the implant moving inside the Breast exactly as you described.

Check your bra hun. Is it a good quality high impact sportsbra?

Does the band fit? Can you only get two fingers under the band.

It's so, so important that the Breast gets stability, so as Mirren quite rightly said, when in a sportsbra that's correctoy offering the right support ensure you do as little as possible so that implant has the opportunity to adhere itself.

Given that's all done, from what we've seen here all is sorted in about a week. If not and you're still experiencing the sensation then it may be adviseable to get your surgeon to take a look for you and they can advise as they see fit.

Hope it's sorted soon though hun. Xx

Thank you both for your help! I was supplied with 2 Macom bras so alternate between those, however I'm now maybe wondering it's perhaps not tight enough, I was really swollen around my stomach and ribs post op so maybe stretched the limits of the bra!

Thank you both, I also think I've possibly been doing too much with my arms without realising. I'm now 4 weeks post op, but it has felt like a lot longer, I'll back off reaching and picking things up!

I'm going to give my surgeon a call to check! Thanks again

My macoms really stretched around the bottom after my swelling had gone. Very good support is the key. Take it easy too. It's still very early days xx

Hi SJM, I have the same with my leftie. It was quite bad but is feeling better, im 10 weeks post op now. It only happens when I move a certain way. It happens to be the boob with the most swelling. I saw my surgeon last week for a general check up and asked about this. He said, at only 10 weeks post op there is still a lot f healing going on inside that we cant see, and for my type of implants he said it can take as long as 18 months.
Not saying this is the same for you obviously, try not to worry though. Lots of weirdness is deemed normal throughout the healing process lol x

You're doing the right thing in calling to see your surgein whenever you're overly worried about anything. After all. We pay a heck of a lot of money for our aftercare don't we so we may as well get our monies worth lol.

Let us know how things go won't you SJM. Xx

Hi anneritchley, did you just purchase a different sports bra once yours had stretched? I already have quite a few sports bra's from training so I have been putting one over the top of my macom but have read on this forum good reviews about the M&S ones so will go there.

Hi Jen23, thank you, ah yes I guess I am still very early in recovery hope your's are doing good! I see my surgeron in another 8 weeks so I'll see what they are like then.

I spoke to my surgeons clinical nurse and she said not to worry, that Mrs Kat doesn't use drains so there is usually a collection of fluid around the implant that my body will re absorb over the next few weeks, that both settle at different rates and it's normal to experience the strange feelings.

Ha yep Cookie defos! Thanks everyone for your help, the nurse got back to me within 5 minutes of emailing and said to get in touch anytime I feel more at ease now! :-) x
