All Clear - what now? Empty All Clear - what now?

Post by Charlii 13th January 2015, 7:30 pm

The breast clinic was more of a fiasco that I imagined. Got there and went into see a Dr for an examination, who was totally condescending. She couldn't feel anything, so they put me through for the ultrasound. The ultrasound lady was much nicer and understanding. Even complimented the work! She told me there's nothing there, the implant is exactly where its meant to me, there's no fluids, no cysts, no tenting, nothing. Just a healthy boob with a healthy implant. Back in to see Ms Condescending, and was discharged (with a look of thanks for wasting my time when I could have been seeing women with real problems!)

So I'm at an impasse. I still have breast pain, but is it breast pain or muscle pain? Do I continue to push back on my surgeon, insist on a replacement that may ultimately not fix the problem? Its died down a lot recently, and I know in my heart that yes, I probably could live with this, but should I? Its great news that there's no nasties there, but now I'm a little stuck as to what next!

Oh, and they only scanned one breast, something about targeted investigation shrug

Where you go now is entirely up to you Charlii, but I personally don't think you're ever going to be 100% happy unless you at least try going with the replacement to get the implant fully adhered to see if this helps with the pain....you're never gonna know unless you try and you just don't come across as the kind of girl who'll settle for anything to me.

Strange how they only scanned the one breast isn't it. I went straight through to the radiographer when I had mine too. Maybe Because ive a history of breast cancer that's why I had both done...I dunno, it's not like it takes up a whole lot of their time is it?!

That's brill you got the all clear Hun,
I Believe in if you don't ask you don't get, but it's how much you would like the replacement? And to be honest you shouldn't have to just put up with your breast pain, you paid a lot of £££££ I'm sure Hun, I'd maybe give it a try too for the replacement?  Sorry I know I haven't had my ba yet, and perhaps I shouldn't be commenting, but if it was me i would try for the replacement, you've got nothing to loose. That's what I thought, I was only in there for 5min max, they could have easily checked out the other one for safe measure! Plus I really don't get the fact that you strip off, lay on the bed...and then they cover your breasts! I'm at a breast clinic, specifically to get my baps out! Literally your job is to look at them! Same with my surgery, really baffled me!

I know, and I don't want to settle. Bolshy Charlii is saying you're in discomfort, do something about it. But reasonable Charlii is saying do you want to put yourself through the stress of another surgery that may or may not help the issue here, and possibly ruin your great looking tits! Ive got 2wks ish before the results come through to me and my GP, at which point I need to send them off to my surgeon (he wanted them regardless of good or bad news). I need some time for a proper think and another chat with him.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], you've every right to comment as everyone else hun! I guess my biggest fear is the vanity of it, but I know its something I need to seriously consider...I'll wait til hubs gets home and trap him into a conversation once he's in the bath! They cant escape then!

Ha ha you make sure he can't escape Hun, it's  best that you talk it all through with hubby , two heads are better than one when your deciding what to do, and I'm sure your hubby will tell you how he feels about it, and help you make the right choice.

I too think that's strange you was only in there 5 mins, besides checking/looking at breasts is their job, that's what they get paid for, you would think they would of completely  checked both breasts out as they are next to each other, and would of taken them another 5 mins,, but you've got the all clear on the breast you had concerns about, that's brill!!!

Great news there's nothing visibly wrong but doesn't make for an easy decision now! I guess only you know how much pain/bother it causes you. Really hard to weigh up and I'm not sure what I'd do. No idea if my view helps in anyway but I have 1 boob slightly lower than the other (which surgeon agrees isn't pre-existing). It bothers me as I want perfection since I paid loads but it's not really noticeable to anyone else and not at all noticeable in a bra. After much thought I've decided I can't put myself through a revision. Too much bother for myself, my hubby and young family. I'd also worry a lot along the way too. I've found the ba process really easy, but still don't really want to do it again so soon! Very different to your circumstance, but that's my insight!

We are all different though. Have a think and you'll know for yourself soon x

mirren001 wrote:Good news that everything is fine with  implant! Between you, hubby & surgeon I'm  sure you will work out what's best in the long run, will the pain in time ease, go all together ? Maybe have it noted- come to an agreement with surgeon to live with it & see , giving you some time to think/see if improves & if not have revision as an option available to you noted as next step.
